In a move to resemble other sporting titles, Unreal will now be released in a 2004 flavor (as well as 2005, 2006, etc). Get the full scoop here:

Anyway, it looks as though UT2004 will be little more than an add-on pack. But will the pricing be similar? Or will we all have to shell out another $40? (Well, the ones who actually did).
I think UT2003 is the best deathmatch style FPS created. A lot of people ridiculed it for being boring and uninspired. However, I think that it stuck true to the genre and did it with a professional edge. There are other FPS games such as Wolfenstien or BF1942 that work a long a different line of shoot-em-up, but I still like the old mindless run around and kill games as well.
Unreal 2 itself was a farce (lets hope Half-Life 2 manages better, and god, checking out those demos: http://insider.ign.com/videos/articles/402/402743p1.html -- it sure looks like HL2 will deliver). But, UT2 being what it was, you have to wonder what Epic/Atari have up their sleeves. Are they focusing more on marketing/money than the games now?
I won't be buying UT2004 for more than $25-$30 tops, if all it offers are some updated maps, play modes, and vehicles. I mean, you can download any maps you want, and if there are plenty other games that do vehicle fighting better.
Couldnt this same be accomplished with a bonus pack? Inspire more people to buy UT2003 rather than release a new competeing product. I just don't see how that will work out as well for the consumers.
