Just picked up an Thermalright SLK-800 / Vantec Tornado 80mm 84.1CFM / Vantec Nexus MultiPanel (CPU Fan Rheobus)
I needed a cooling system for Lan Parties... and just wanted to see what was out there...
Specs:
2100+ Tbred B @ 12x200fsb = 2400MHz
Asus A78NX Deluxe R. 2.0
Vcore 1.825
1 80mm Intake Fan 31CFM
1 80mm Exhaust Fan 31CFM
Enermax PSU with 2 Fans
Fan Speeds:
3200RPM - Idle 37C Load 45C
4000RPM - Idle 36C Load 42C
5798RPM - Idle 35C Load 39C
Ambient Room Temperature 21C
100% Load Folding@Home
The noise is bearable at it's lowest setting
I have to blast the volume while playing games if I want the fan Full Blast.
The MultiPanel is more of a toy and esthetics gizmo then a proper rheobus considering it can only control CPU Fan. Though it does bring 2 USB and 1 Firewire connection to the front panel, and displays temperatures for CPU/CASE/HDD temp sensors. Painless to install.
Being that there are tons of reviews on all these products already, I figure I'd just list points that stuck in my head.
Thermalright SLK-800
* Awesome looking heatsink
* Perfectly flat and smooth at base
* Flimsy Fan Clips, They should include extra Clips
* Socket Mechanism is not optimal, should have bigger screwdriver guard/cage for better leverage
Vantec Tornado 80mm
* Loud
* Displaces ALOT of air
* Needs fancontrol to be liveable if in a public area in home
Vantec Nexus
* Nice Frontpanel arrangement
* Includes everything in regards to cables / allen key / adapters
* Had to modify Tornado molex to 3 pin head to use with panel as there is only adapters for 3pin
* Looks spiffy
Will this setup replace my watercooling? Nope... not for home use anyways, as it is still alot louder than watercooling at it's lowest settings but for Lan Parties or fooling around, I feel comfortable with it's cooling power to keep me stable and in the game.
Just my thoughts... your mileage may vary.
