Someone at my work wants to upgrade their computer. I'm going to sell them my A7V266-E and maybe some other stuff. Now for the questions. He's going to need a CPU,Memory, and a HD. I don't know If I should sell him my micron pc2100 and my unlocked 1600+ and get new parts. If I throw some cash in I can get a kt333 board, some samsung 3000, and maybe a new chip. I'd like to wait and get a kt400.
Hmmm

Looks like I can part with my A7V, 1600+, 1x 256 pc2100, and a 10g drive for $400.00. That sound fair?

I'm just worried about unlocking another XP. Took me forever to do the 1600+. I'm kind of hoping I can wait for a throughbred But I know me and I'll get something at the next computer show.:D
If I was to get a KT333 board what should I get? Abit or Epox? I'd rather the Abit I've had good luck with them. I'd ask about KT400s but no one knows yet. Must restrain myself for a little while longer....

KT400 wont have much benefit over an overclocked KT333. My KX7 already does 200mhz easy :)

I've been reading amd it looks like it's going to be a ABIT OR ASUS kt333 board. Do they supourt the throughbred? I'm kind of leaning towards the ASUS 'cause of the ammount of onboard extras. How does it overclock?

The A7V333 is a great board. It doesnt OC nearly as well as the KX7 however. I just like how it talks to me :)
I wish it had Ebonics language support tho. Instead of:
"CPU passed CPU test. Now booting from operating system."
it'd say...
"Yo, CPU be passin shit. We be startin dis bitch!"

And right after POST, "AMD, we be all up in Intel's ass"
I really like the extras on the ASUS so that might be the first one, then the ABIT.
Now that I'm sitting in work trying to sell my old stuff I might be getting bolth the ABIT and the ASUS. Maybe. Depends on what I can work out.
Tom, I sent the frag tape today. I'm thinking you'll be seeing it sometime early next week.

Well my ABIT KT7-RAID, 800@950, 10g wd ATA66, and 256 'o PC133 is going to the guy at work for $300.00. Now I'm Looking at the ASUS KT333-R. and a 1900+. Is it worth the $$ for the 2000+?

Its worth the money for an MP1900 so you dont have to unlock the paininthearse.
Thx for the tape. I ordered some 3m stuff today as well. Ill see what works the best. Hopefully my computer has dried out enough today.

NewEgg wants 185.00 for the 1900MP vs. 135.00 for the 1900XP. 50.00 beans is a little steep and I think after I did an 1800 in 5x and my 1600 in like 20x I have some practice unlocking the damn things.
Yea, I'm saying that now. We'll see later when I'm cursing at it.

Ok I'm stuck on what board.
1 ABIT KX7-333
2 ABIT KX7-333R
3 ASUS A7V333
4 ASUS A7V333R
I may or may not run a raid (depends if I have enough $$ to get WD SE drive) and I like the extras on the ASUS but if there is that much of difference in the O/Cing with the ABIT I'm going for that. It's cheaper too. I'm also getting 2x 256 corsair 3000 and a XP to be named later (like when I pay these parts off)

If youll ever use firewire or USB, probably go A7V. Me, i have no use for that stuff yet :)

The choice comes down to primary purpose of the mobo. If it's for an all around rig, and you don't have a suitable sound card...get the Asus. If you want to overclock and tweak, get the Abit.
Both mobos are good choices.
Your situation reminds me a lot of when I had the A7V-266E and was considering moving to the KR7A. It was a hard choice. But, once I moved to the KR7A, I never looked back and could not have been happier. Looking back, it was a great choice.
Things I liked about the Abit over the Asus was:
Abit is a true jumperless mobo. Man...for someone like me who likes to play with the settings all the time, the Asus was a pain in the ass. Even in "jumperless" mode, you still had to play with far too many damn jumpers.
The Highpoint controller on the Abit is far better than the Promise controller...nuff said here.
The Abit overclocked waaaaaay better. My Asus did about 142 to 145, while the Abit did 172 all day long.
Aside for the on board sound and COP thermal sensing, there isn't much advantage to the Asus.
BTW, either way you go get the RAID version. If you do go RAID in the future, your option is there for you. If not, the 2 extra IDE channels for exclusive HD use is nice. It allows you to put just the ATAPI devices on the regular IDE channels without any cable sharing. So, IMOHO, the Raid versions are the only way to go for the small price difference.

Honestly all the time that I've had my ASUS I was still liking my ABIT better. It seemed more forgiving and easier to use. Not to mention cheaper. Looks like I'll be geting a new ABIT this week.

I know I'm biased (as a Abit user myself), but I think you've made a great choice....the KX7 rocks!
