Well, there are bazillions of 'em out there, but I was wondering if anyone has any especially good or bad experiences? I'm looking for a cheapo registrar - no mail, no hosting, no silly stuff, just a registration. Has to be one that will allow me to do anything I like with the domain in terms of hosting, and preferably one that does't engage in shady marketing gimmicks...

Hi G,

I do not know of any, but I am watching this thread with interest, as I also am looking for such a site.

Take care........

I've got the same query out elsewhere, so if I turn up anything good I'll post it here.

I use Joker.com. Its a CORE supplier and is pretty cheap. GoDaddy.com is also reputable, we use them for business.

Other than that, NetworkSolutions.com is the granddaddy of them all, a little more costly but good.

Personally, i used Register.com, 75.00 for 3 years w/ hosting, storage and e-mail. it works:)

Cheers guys. I've gone with Joker.com since they're based in Europe - 24 EUR (~27 USD) for 2 years. Their registration process was very smooth and non-intrusive - they only ask for the absolute minimum info, which I really appreciate in these days when the likes of the NYT won't let you read their content without telling them your shoe size and both your grandmothers' maiden names... Just have to see if they complete the regsistration OK.
