Hi All,
I am building another SETI cruncher and bought one of these bad boys, after reading the reviews.
My new system will be a 1.4 TBird/266, an MSI K7266 Pro mobo, 256 PC2100 memory, and a SCSI RAID array of three 18.2 Seagate drives. Looks like I am going 100% SCSI again. My main system is also 100% SCSI.
Anyway, the HSF is supposed to be VERY good, for air, of course.
Since it is good up to 2 gig, I don't forsee any problems.
Will let all know of results next mid-week.
There goes another weekend.........PC's, can't live with them, can't live without them.
Take care........

Hi Rob,
It is not the SCSI drives that are expensive, (125.00 each), it is the RAID controller. The one that I have costs 1800.00, but I got a REAL good deal on it.
Like your new site.
When can I bring my Avitar over?
Take care.......

I think avatars are set to be after 10 posts...I can change that now...
I wasnt quite ready for members yet
Damn...thats a serious SCSi system...ive been getting more in to to that...is that a U160 controller? onboard RAID?
Problem with big scsi cards like that is that they WASTE PCI bandwidth...waste as in kill completely lol. Nothing left for anything else...90mbs and all. Need a MPX board with 64bit pci

Hi Tom,
The SCSI card is a seperate card, full size.
This is identical to the one that I ran SCSI testing on at Compaq for almost 2 years and never had a bandwidth problem.
Unfortunately, my wife has a living room painting project for me today, so will not get to put together the system until late tonight or late tomorrow night.
God, I hate to have toys, and not be able to use them.
Take care.....
Hi lechumbl,
Can you post your results with the T-bird? I also bought a T-bird 1.4 (AYHJA) today. Got it running at 1750MHz. What steps in there by the way?
Regards, KODE.

Hi Kode,
I am getting around 1704 with both my 1.4 birdys.
I have not done a voltage mod, so that is my limit.
Take care, and good to see ya here.........
Hi Lee,
Nice to see ya too! :)
Thanx for the input. Any of them water-cooled?

Hi Kode,
Running at 1.85 v (the max) for both.
I was going to tell everyone about the ThermalTake Volcano 7 +, but I don't have any case fans on my system I just built, so my temps are not bragging good yet.
As soon as I make the new system overclock'd cool, I will tell all.
Take care.........

How loud is this heatsink? I haven't tried it yet, sounds good for a server (one that sits in the closet)...i imagine its delta loud? :)

Hi Tom,
When you have it on "HI", you can certainly hear it across the room.
On "MEDIUM" it is not too loud, on "LOW", you can't hear it at all.
Of course, when you pump mega volumes of air through it it will sound like a delta, for sure.
It is one of 4 systems I have running at all times, so I am used to the "roar".
Take care..........

You can change the fan settings? Or do you have a seperate controller on that puppy?

Hi again,
There is a three way switch that allows you to be on Hi, Medium, or Low.
It is like 6000 RPM's on Hi, 4800 RPM's on Medium, and 3000 RPM's on Low.
The dB's are 47, 35, and 24 for Hi, Medium, and Low.
You get 49 CFM on Hi, don't know what the flow is on Medium and Low.
Take care.........

Another thing, it only costs $29.95.
Sure beat the GlobalWin prices we were paying last year.....$60.00 +.

First Post her Guys!! Love the site!! Just needs somemore content!
Man only 29.95?!!? i should of waited to get mine i paid 42.00 but oh well it was well worth it! Keeps my 850 Duron o/c to 1.06 1.75V at a cool 34C idle 39Load on high. I would definatly invest in one if there only 29.95.

I payed over $40 as well (just bought the 7+). I see the regular volcano 7 is is like $30. Maybe your vendor got some pricing mixed up. :)
Or i just paid to much. Luckily its for a server, so its not mine :) I just get to play with it.
I will be comparing it to the AX7 as well :)

Hi Tom,
The Volcano V 1.6 GHz CPU Fan is $14.00 at one of the stores that I shop at, and the Volcano 7 Plus 2.0 GHz CPU Fan is $29.00.
Maybe the East Coast prices are higher. (Or maybe the clerk had tofu in his eyes, and read the prices wrong.)
Take care........
