<---- self-explanatory :D

I like a good RPG also, it's just a pain in the butt to find time to relax and play one. Whereas with the FPS, you can just boot up ur PC and have instant action without having to worry about where you left off or anything.

yeah thats why i resort to fps. rpgs just take a bit too long to hold my attention.

i have about thirty mins logged for NWN. It's an awesome game, but just not as satisfying as getting fragged or fraggin.:)

Hmmmm...this has just recently become a tough question.

Until a few weeks ago, I would have said 1st Person Shooter all the way. My favorite recent addictions had been BF1942, Desert Combat (possibly the best mod of all time), RTCW, and MOH.

I always shunned the MMORPG as they seemed to be nothing more than a chase "to the next level" which comes from nothing but spending time in front of the computer. No tricks...no skills...just pure seat time is what advances you.....yawn. For me, gaming is a fun thing I do when I can "squeek" it in my busy schedule. So games that reward you based solely on how much time you spend planted in front of the monitor playing it leaves me uninspired.

Then a buddy of mine had me try the new MMORPG ShadowBane a few weeks back. And, to my surprise i really liked it:) Yes, it still is basically nothing more than sitting there waiting to "ding" up to the next level....but it does have some appeal for me. SB has some cool politics involved with city and guild building which is kinda neat.

But, alas, I'll never really go too far with it as I just don't have the time to compete with others who seem to live on line in the game world for days at a time.

So...in the end...it's 1st person shooter:)

I'll bet most of you guys have never checked out DAOC (Dark Age Of Camelot) yes it is a tedious process (leveling), but the PVP (Plaver Versus Player) aspect is simply FUN...

Somehow I find a mass raid against the enemy realm, involving upwards of 500 live players, strategically attacking a heavily fortified enemy keep, and taking control of it quite fun. Not to mention the absolutely stunning 3d world it is set in. I've played EverQuest quite a bit, its one of the most frustrating games I've ever played, takes forever to level, very slow recovery after battles. it resembles DAOC only in that it is an mmorpg, and contains the same basic elements....

DAOC offers many improvements but the biggest is Realm Versus Realm PVP action, you can build Catapults, Battering Rams, among other projectile weaponry, and the different combinations of race, class, and realm gives you plenty of combinations to choose from. All this in a graphical 3d enviroment that surpasses Morrowinds Graphics.

FPS are cool and all, but for me the cheating, bickering, and prepubescent players simply kill the experience...

Not that DAOC doesn't have an incident every once in a while, but the difference is it is handled immediately...

If you don't at least give some of these games a shot I think your missing alot of potential fun, the only tough part is it does take a bit of commitment to get the rewards offered.....

World of Warcraft looks like it will be amazing, I can't wait.....

Speaking of PvP, that's what Shadowbane is all about. After you complete the noob level, you're booted from noob island and must fend for yourself in the "big world". The PvP aspect really defines the game at that point. That means making friends and joining a guild. Without that, your done quick. The politics, city building, laying seige to other cities, alliance building all make for a very interesting world to play in.

If it wasn't for huge hours commitment needed to level up and stay with those you get to know in your guild, I'd have more fun.....*sigh*

Hey guys,
I picked FPS. They get me goin. Most of the time RPGs bore me to death. Althou Morrowind and Warcraft 3 are my favs. I can play them non-stop for hours on end.

Athough I think the half life stuff is a bit old compared to the newer glitzy stuff I am seeing, I have to admit that I too play CS and still love it.
