What stats is everyone interested in seeing in the stats signature?

I like both...i think they both cover everthing anyone should need to know..Tom, i like your stats sig better cause it has the LN watermarked in it. I think lee's seems to be a lil easier to read thou. Althou, it's your decision. I'am slowy but shurly catching up..39 Yippie:D

The watermark graphic is only temporary. I just wanted to get the basic functionality done. I have a lot of optimizing to do, the PHP is running a bit slow still.

Also working on a full team stats page.

Ill work on it some more tommarow night, come up with a better graphic and a easier to read layout :)

Im hoping to insert a logo so it can be used in our members sigs, and help promote the site. Maybe :)

Hi guys,

Need a vote here. I can continue to work on the seti-signature and seti-links page. However, I am at the point where I need to invest a lot more time and energy in to the scripts. What you see now is just a basic test which I wrote in two hours last night, not the actual finished product.

I will finish the work on this project if I feel that it will be worth something to the members here. Many of you are already using the SetiStats.de thing in your signatures. So then, is it worth it for me to create a LiquidNinjas version? Will you guys use it, or will you continue to use the SetiStats one?

I hate to do all the extra work for just me. I have to install a MySQL database for seti stats, to improve the loading speed (at the moment, it polls Berkely every time it needs to load the graphic, NOT good). Instead I will cache the pages for like 4 hours or so, which will make the sigstats load faster, and create less burdon on Berkley. But this will be a lot of work, and I want it to be something we all use if I go ahead with it.

As I am coding this, let me know what features you would like. Other sigsetistats I see around simply show number of work units instead of all the information, but have a prettier background image. I may beable to set it up so you can choose from different background images, or use your own custom 'skin'.

I can also create a team-seti signature image, which displays the stats for the team itself in the sig, or display some other team stats in the personal signature (other than rank and number of members which show in the test rignt now).

The full stats page, which i know is very hard to read, but I didnt mess with colors yet, I just put it there for testing. I hope to make it more robust, and also hope to add some functionality such as +1 or -1 snapshot statistics.

But again, my concern is doing all this work on seti when Im not sure it will be worth it. We only have a dozen-ish members, only half of which seem to actively post WU. And then my concern is the current members going on to other projects such as Genome or Rc5, etc.

So I dont know. I can do some pretty cool things with these stats, but the question of course is, is it worth it? Signature results can be provided by setistats.de and for team stats, you only need to go to berkely, or download software for your desktop.

Hi Tom,

The one that I downloaded from the German site is nice, but it does not have the LN anywhere in it.

It would be good advertisement on other sites to have our own sig block.

I can live with the German one if needed, but I really like the stats page with all on it.

My vote....Leave it as is for now, don't invest a lot of time now, and give me the "url" so I can use it.

I imagine most others will use it also.

Its too slow for everyone to use it right now. It would make our seti forums crawl, unless i did the extra coding.

Not sure what you mean when you say too slow.

I click on the sig and it "pops" up for me real quick.

Do you mean updating stats?
They seem to be up to date...


EDIT: Might want to change the link name colors from dark blue to red or somthing else. Vary hard to read.

I am voting for your sig! This site and seti are my only major things i participate in on the web and so forth. I am a member of many other sites which your sig would look nice in. I know it's alot of hardwork this past year i created and maintaned my Junior high schools class page.

I'll use it. The only reason I'm using the german one is 'cause we don't have one. I think we should at least have something with LN in it. I doesn't have to be fancy just get the word out.

My vote would be to go ahead with your stats project. Some of us will do other projects from time to time but for most of us Seti is our first love and we will always return to Seti.

I think the use of our own stats would be good to be able to go onto other boards and advertise without saying come on over. some board frown on pmiping but dont mind nice siggys.

but then I am not the poor so and so about to do all that hard work :D

I also think that it would be a good idea to have a sig developed for the LN team in order to promote the sight. However, I also think it is important to prioritize this task as it will may take a good deal of Tom's time.

So my only suggestion here is that before we ask Tom to embark on this process, that most of the LN site functionality issues have been addressed. Basic functionality of the site should be a number 1 priority. So the forums, news, reviews, and other areas should be in good working order first. This way, when new members come over, or potential members come to look, we offer the most appealing site possible.

Don't get me wrong...I think the seti sig should come as soon as possible. Let's just make sure our house is in order before we expand our adverising. First impressions are everything, and we want new visitors to see the best we have to offer.

top work P0!! v.impressed! everyones pretty much said what i would have i.e. the main reasons the pimpage factor for LNM & LNM seti. I've accounts at at least 7 hardware sites, not all get used that much but the posts stay there with the sig in view! My view is to do it when you can but prioritise accordingly :)

I have my little sig for SETI Stats, and if I need to look at current stats, I go to one of your many thousands of posts, and open up your sig and look at current stats that way.:D

As long as we are imposing on you anyway, how's bout incorporating a 24 hour total in the stats page also.

Secondly, can you post or send me the url for your SETI Stats icon, as I would like to start using it, in place of the one that I have now.
