Hi all,
I have a cheap car cold cathode light.
Made a molex to car lighter socket cable and installed it no worries.
On the packaging it warns against continuous use beyond 4 hours.
Are any of you aware of such limitations? and do people just leave them on permanently?
Thanks in advance.

My UV is on 24/7 with no issues so far.
Now you have me worried ;)

I have a switch on mine.
You could easily wire it to a switch.
I only have mine on when I take pictures or show it off.

I don't see a reason to leave it on when no one can view it, so turning it off when you're not there wouldn't hurt.
But yea, I've never heard of such a limit either.

Hi U_R,
I don't have the one for the car, but for the PC.
I have run it for days and had no issues with it.
I do not know the reason for the 4 hour limit, but like Tom said, if you are not watching it, why have it on?
I have been turning it off when not in use, so probably best to do that.
Take care.........

Thanks all, as usual quality advice.
I have decided on the switch option... I am also considering making use of an old security motion sensor unit to make my box light up in recognition of my presence.
I just need some sort of switch off delay. Otherwize It will probably flicker a lot.
Cheers

most motion decectors that ive seen (as kits) for whatever you would use them for have builtin adjustable timers. look for that
