Other-
I'am supposed to have 56K dial-up, but when the phone compay splits your phone line you only get 26.4Kbps, when i'am lucky, most of the time its 24Kbps.
I'am glad I got T1 at work.

Of course time warner's own test will inflate the result.

They do, through TimeWarner. But, since AOL is hosting it ( ), their Cable/DSL service just plain sucks. A friend of mine has it, I can't remember what he scored on a bandwidth test, all I can remember is that it was horribly low for cable. AMD might remember the score...

Well, 4.1/400 is a TimeWarner test, so they probably just uncapped a modem and benched it. Either that or they are just fudging numbers hardcore.

He gets around 700/100 for $65 a month, while I get 2100/350 for $40 a month. BWAHAHAHAHAHA.
Allen is saying that if you go to timewarner's site, that their own speed test gives him 4.1/400. Probably they just double the D/L, and that is just to timewarner, you are not exiting the cable network per say.

What i mean is, if you go to Time warners bandwidth test you will get the full 4.1/400 just about every time... because its hosted on the same network.
An uncapped modem will do 100mbit up and down. this is an actual repeatable score for me.
Thats just the peak speed.. if the interenet could keep up id be happy

I find it funny that people accually think that TimeWarner won't find out if they uncap their modem. Lets see, I think they will notice when they see that you are exchanging data in extreme excess of their cap off...unless they have AOL techies running the show...then they probably wouldn't notice! ;)

i havent tried and dont think i will. but as far as i know everytime your modem reconnects it downloads the settings again... and the way they updated it i dont believe it can be changed.

Its a wireless system. Small antenna on my roof pointed at a nearby mountain.
Download is very fast 2500-5200 down
Upload is not so good 90-150 up.

Thanks for the welcome. I was quite impressed with the speed myself. Now I just need to start Modding my system out. Think Im gonna go all out and get the Swiftech Thermo Electric Cooling Kit.

Water or air?
Don't just limit yourself to Swiftech products. They may be the best at what they do, but you can save a bundle by getting some of your own stuff, mainly a heater core instead of a computer radiator.

Water cooled, I really just want the TEC blocks cause it gets mighty hot here in hell. Im looking to do a Server Cube case just need to get the money from the wife. She was saying something about needing a new vacuum but i stopped listening.
Drake
03-28-2003, 07:54 PM
If you have a Pentium system Swiftech's MCW5000 waterblock would perform wonderfully with a TEC, but if you've an AMD-based system, their best option is MCW462.
Why a cube? Just wan't the space? There are plenty of 'big' cases out there that'd suite your needs.
Ryuujin
03-29-2003, 11:06 AM
Im kinda limited on the space I can use for a system. I have a desk with a pc drawer but why put all the work into it not to show it off  So i can put a cube case on the end of my desk and have space to make a clean mod case :cool2: and keep the pump and powersupply hardware outta the way.
