Greetz all,
I was wondering, can you set up an FTP on a dynamic IP address? I won't be permanently hosting files, but just using it as an easier way to transfer files between friends, so not knowing the IP won't be an issue.
Secondly, if I can... how would I do so?

serv-u (name of the progra) has a specific option for settting up an ftp on dynamic ip
serv-us is also very easy to use and manage....
i never had to set up dynamic ip ftp so i cant really tell you much
but maybe if you just want to share files, why dont you do it through AIM. you can have it set up so your friends on buddy lists can just download files off a specific folder
it might be less costly and perhaps easiest to set up?

No IM file transfers seem to work :(
Plus this allows me to access files from school and such.

yeah i sorta know what you mean. i can only do file transfers at school through aim when the recipient is on the same network...but it goes t 1800kbs so its awesome!
but i had to set up ftp to send files to cousin who is on dsl...and upload is capped at 50kbs...i think something my school did to cap network and aim transfer definitely doesnt work
but definitely try serv u
you can search it on google and download the trial version
