Ok guys I just ordered a 13.8v 25a PSU and a 226w Pelt and a coldplate for my Maze3. Now what I need to know is the best ways to waterproof.

Now I know to put silicone on the back of the mobo behind the Socket and silicone inside the empty part of the socket. Then Use Dielectric grease on the pins. Then I will put silcone around the socket and use neoprene over that. And I know to put Neoprene around the coldplate so it seals with the neoprene around the socket.

Now I have two questions

Someone told me I should use a nonconductive grease ontop of the CPU not the slug but the Organinc. Do I need to do this?

And Do I need to cover the whole waterblock in Neoprene? I will not be using chilled water yet just regular single loop.

Any link to sites that give directions and pics would be helpful just for reference.

Thanks Guys

Hi m8,

I don´t have much experience with pelts, just chilled water. I used to had a some condensation on the contact face of the water-block. I just added a very thin piece of foam to fill the gap. I think if you don´t have air you won´t have condensation. Insulate everything, It´s better safe than sorry.

NY, yeah use dielectric grease or vaseline or silicone on top of the chip. I dont know about the foam...seems to me it would sort of lift up on the cpu. The grease works great. You will definately need to put dielectric grease in your socket pinholes, and fill the center gap (i usually use silicone with neoprene top for that). Use silicone or grease around the edge of the cpu socket, and get a neoprene gasket (swiftech) to go around the whole outside of the socket if you can. You need to put a neoprene patch or glue on the otherside of the board underneath the socket, or it will get too cold and you will get condensation enough.

Your CPU will be below 0c at times if you do this right so I cant stress condensation proofing enough. Definately put some extra time in to doing it right :) You wont need to insulate the Maze3 cause your not using chilled water. In fact, it will get hot. You will want to insulate around the peltier and cold plate. Again, get some thin sheets of neoprene and glue them down with some GE silicone II glue (from any home improvement store).

Thanks for the info guys. I should have all the equipment next week. I am getting a KX& today so I will just waterproof it before I put it in my case.

Hey Northern, I have some Pics of my insulation job for my 226w peltier, the only thing you cant see is the foam and silicone on the back of the mobo, just click on my system photos at the bottom of the page. That way you can see the best way that I have found to insulate the coldplate/mobo. I did not even put any thing on top of the cpu:) and has been perfect for a few months now:). I personlly am going to pull the whole setup apart as I don't really like the whole setup, the peltier creates alot of heat and I don't think I can cool the peltier good enough, unless I can chill the water, and if I do that thats a whole new ballgame:D

Make sure that if you have your radiator in your case that you have the air cooling the radiator blowing thru it out of the case cause, you will see the heat that the pelt creats is insane! and you don't want that air blowing into the case.. Good Luck!
