#6 coarse 3" long or if they do not have that get a #6 bar and cut it down to the size you require.

#6-32 coarse thread machine screw. They will prolly not have 3" so you will have to buy the bar.

Yeah #10 is way too thick your mobo may handle #8, I said #6 just to be on the safe side.

HD does not carry 3" 6-32. I just went with 1' 6-32 brass threaded rod and 12 brass 6-32 nuts. Works wonderful.

I would like some threaded 6-32 thumbwheels. :)

they cary 8-32 X3 but only in 100pcs so i wasnt gonna steal 4 out of the box i bougth a box of seven 8-32 2 1/2

why go with 6-32? thats is so thin

It fits well in the holes and it's not like you're building a house on top of it :)

Just puting some pressure on the core. If #8's work then go with it.

#8 is so small.. and think easy to bend the screws... they swhould make a #10 hole on the mobo... but the springs fit nice on this... i guess i get harder srpings...

quest... WIth a shim.. there is NO way u can crack the core (imposible)

Can't crack it but you can kill it.

I use #6 3" steel bolts, as mentioned. My HomeDepot doesnt carry these. Lowes does however. Lowes has a better nut/bolt selection. #8 probably fits too, but its thicker than I feel confortable going through my motherboard (I try to avoid the steel bolts from touching the motherboard, and the thinner the better for this.

When I needed some 6" #6 bolts, I bought the long threaded steel dowels that HomeDepot sells (similar to what fara said). This works good if you need it as well, but cutting this is a hassle and you need to rethread the ends usually.

#10 was to thick for me..Went back and got #6 dowle... Havn't had time to cut it. Since I bout P0 maze 3-1 and got all the steel mounting stuff w/it.

Quick hint w/ the threaded rod.

As P0 mentioned, sometimes you have to re-thread the ends. All you have to do is put a nut on before you cut it with a hacksaw/Dremel. After cuting just take off the nut and it will clean up the threads. You can also file a bevel on the ends if you really want but it will work without :D
