This is the perfect cooler for those of you would like water cooling but don't feel like messing with the complexity of a typical water cooler install and maintenance. You stick it on just like a regular heatsink and fan but you get all the benefits of water cooling. What could be better? The unit is completely self contained. The 60x60x20mm fan moves 26.5cfm and is a ball bearing unit of the highest quality. It comes with its own specially formulated coolant pre-installed and sealed, ready to go. It fits P4-478 and any AMD socket with the four mounting holes around the ZIF socket. The radiator is copper and the mounting water-block/heatsink is aluminum. And how about this for cool; there are two three pin plugs for this unit; one for the fan and one for the pump. Now you can plug either into your power supply directly with a 3-4 pin adapter but if you leave the pump plugged into your mainboard it will monitor the speed of the pump as if it were a fan. This means if the pump fails or slows down and you have hardware monitoring set up your computer can alert you to any problems. The pump will be watched just like a fan by your computer, is that neat or what? You will see some amazing results with this cooler, it's one of a kind. It fits on most motherboards that have the mounting holes." -1COOLPC review. Check:our site for specification! Cool, now if it could be modified for direct die cooling using goo! I really like the self-contained aspect. Kind of like one of those heat pipe coolers. Wonder what the heat carrying capacity at different temp differentials is for this compared to a well designed heat pipe unit?

saw a review of something similar on dans data it had the pump fan resevoir assembly separate with just a water block that bolted to the socket.

That one was rubbish worse than most air coolers, had to be recalled too.
Nice idea tho wonder how this one performs.
Good to see people being innovative rather than rolling out the same old stuff with a bigger fan and lights on it.

I would think that goo wouldn't work in it, the magnetic pump is likely pretty weak and goo is quite thick, powerfull water pumps have trouble with it.

along a similar line to this once had a crazy idea of putting a sterling cycle heat pump on the proc and using the heat the proc generated to drive the cooling system in a pleasing feedback loop. Never work but hey its a fun idea ;)

knowing what i do i think its pretty pointless... but the idea has a cool factor.
i like the idea of being to monitor the pump speed. thats novel. If only the pump wasnt weak
