Most of us here don't stray far from Eheim, I 'spose
I've heard a few bad things about this pump, leaks, breaking, etc... but I don't have any first-hand experience with it.
eheims are too frikken BIG the via should be fine. not as good as a hydor/swifty/eheim tho.

anyone else got any dirt on the via.
over @ Overclockers, they have had some explosions of them. they also had a lot of good ones. about like ibm 75GXP i guess. seal em up good and they should be fine
Mine works great!
As for the noise:

i think the maxijet 900 would be a better alternative--8.5w i think at 230gph i think.. but its around that -- much more efficient imo

well, i got my via aqua a bout a week ago. my plans for it were to use it to cool my midi p3 sys but i haven't got the time and extra money to get it all up and runnig( cause i will cool many things in the p3 sys so i'll need many blocks and some time). so i decided for now to put together a little test rig for blocks and stuff. it consist of the pump one 6x8 heater core, fan and fanshroud.
here is a pick

yeha.. there is this mod to make it quiet... it realy cuts down on noize... then i submeged it... i cant hear it anymore... hey ralf but the pump on some foam... it will cut the noize by 75% dont use the suction cups... and then put in the water with a foam + the noize mod 99% quieter

thanks for the info brinky, i tried the foam and i it works well. i also tightened the thosebars with lots of taflon tape so i wouldn't have to tighten them althe way.

there was a post somewhere that had a link on how to make the VIA realy quiet... all you do is glue the propelor to the axle so doesnt turn frelly. That mechanism is there to prevent clogging... since this pump is not in a pond... i dont think u will clog it... that simple mod CUT noize big time, as long as its done properly... otherwize makes even more noize...

well. when i got my pump out of the box i noticed in the intruction that it recomended that the pump should run submerged at all time. i wasn't sure about that so i began testing my via aqua 1300 last week and its been running 1 week straight and only gets a little warm so i guess i should work fine if its not submerged

i noticed that too... when dry.. the pump sucks water so fast when submerged
I run mine 24/7 in an inline system and have never had any problems with it.
