I wanted to show everyone some of the pics Tailin sent to me today. I am having him do some mods for my current project which is built in an AMS gTower aluminum case. Here are the pics of the two images he will be sandblasting in to the plexi windows of this case.

The two plexy windows will be etched and glued together for a 3d effect, which should look great with all the lighting going in to this case.
Other pictures of the system can be found here.

I will keep taking pictures as its developed :) I finally got the new motherboard in, as well as the new 80mm round cold cathodes behind the dragon can grills. The 9700 pro works amazingly well, the picture quality is much better than the 8500, although I still cant find the video soap.
Not a bad little video box tho :)

Tailin's dragon front and side panel are in. There are now 5 cold cathode lights in this box. Wiring is much better, but still needs more clean up work. The black floppy is only temporary, and will have a hidden-hatch. The dvd rom is also temporary, and I will do a hidden dvd mod for that as well, as soon as I get a dvd-writer. The dragon front panels really are the same color, but they aren't angled completely flat, im still working out a better mounting system for the dragon panel.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm happy with the progress, but it still has a long way to go before I am happy with it. Thanks to Tailin again for doing the plexy etching and the front panel cut out for me. The rest was done with pretty much stock parts. Apart from spending a lot of time with the wiring, this box went together pretty quick and easy.
Ill keep you posted as I make progress :)

Wicked case that, packing some serious horsepower too.
I have a quick thought about the etching, you may have tried or considered it allready. I know a local place that makes illuminated shop signs by etching multiple panels like tailin has done here, then putting light through the sheet of plexi from one or more edge's.
They can put different colours thru the seperate sheets and the result is much like neon.
The only difference I can think of is that they etch their panels deeper and fill the etching with luminecant dye or paint. they then use fluro lighting and alloy extruded capping.
I have seen the panels pre dye, and the light still caught well, perhaps through application of coloured light, an interesting result could be achieved.
Anyway, my quick thought raged out of control, luv the case.

UR, already been giving serious thought to filling in the etchings. They arent very deep. Ive tried lighting from the edges, but it doesnt work very well. The background is jsut so busy. I think painting the etching is the way forward.
Maybe once I paint the etching, I can do the 3d effect I had originally planned (there are two layers of etched plexy for the complete effect, but its just too messy as-is to use).

good luck with that, I can picture the sort of result possible and it should be great.
I look forward to future updates.

love the way the new 80mm round cold cathodes looks behind the dragon. Very Nice!
Just wish they came in 120.

I really liked the dragon in the front I want to do that to mine that was just so cool. Were do you get your round cold cathoad?
And how did you do your eching (taping it out). I want to do the same thing just smaller.
And like everybody eles said bitchin case, kinda cool how simple mods can come out so cool.

I paid Tailin to do the dragon front and the window etchings. He sand blasted the etching. I beleive he just used a rubber matting that he cut the design in to, like most other sand blasting projects use.
I get my cold cathodes at 2cooltek i beleive. Thats where i get most of my overclocking goods.
