Yay! Next step...?

With our current rate, it seems that we'll make 60-50 before we stop rising.

By my estimations you are absolutely correct. But it will still take us a good while to get to that point. In the meantime, we need to do all we can to encourage new LN members to join the cause. Only by growing the team will we be able to rise higher then 50-60.

If we keep growing the way we have been recently, we should be on track to break past that barrier eventually.

Arr, I'm trying to recruit a few of my teachers... any specific points I should make besides the good cause thing? It'll be a school project, with all computers equipped with the same stuff, so competition isn't really an argument.

Well, the "good for mankind" thing is the best reason.

Aside from that, distributed computing may make for a good science project just to see how it works. DC is something that is becoming very mainstream now days. Not only are voluntary DC projects popping up all over, but new business models are being developed by firms which have large numbers of PCs. They plan on selling the computational power to the highest bidder. In fact, Gateway has already begun the process of selling their spare CPU cycles from all of their stores to outside enterprises.

Hi Drake,

Use this cut and paste from Folding holepage:

"What are proteins and why do they "fold"?
Proteins are biology's workhorses -- its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out their biochemical function, they remarkably assemble themselves, or "fold." The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, remains a mystery. Moreover, perhaps not surprisingly, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious effects, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, and Parkinson's disease."

If appealing to their "good for mankind" side does not work, use the helping to cure these problems aspect.

Take care...........
