Swifty's and corrosion

I want to start and say this is a great place to share ideas about overclocking and watercooling. I have read many good ideas from these forums since I found the site about 8 months ago.


Anyway, I know the swifty waterbloacks have an anodized aluminum top to retard corosion. But aren't their radiators aluminum as well? I haven't got to look at any, but they look like they are the same transmission cooling radiators I can get at a performance shop. If I'm not mistaken, they are painted on the outside and unprotected inside. Am I mistaken?? I'm curious because I'm sure many people have bought the Q-Power systems and they may have problems down the road.

While I don't have a QP. I do have a swifty block and a hayden radiator (trans cooler). I've never noticed any corrosion in my system.

I know that Mdzcpa has had a QP for a while so maybe he can add his experiences.

I think if you keep a eve on it, use distilled H20, and flush it every 3-6 months I don't think you'll run into any issues.

8 months? Boy, you really checked us out. :D

If you use 80% water and 20% Prestone antifreeze, you will not have any corrosion or problems with the inside of the pump, block, and tubing.
The lubrication properties of the antifreeze will protect very well.
Sooner or later, you will need to flush tho, just like in the car.

Poland spring is (should) be spring water. It has too many minerals in it.

Distilled water is found in auto parts stores as battery/radiator water.

how long can u run your system b4 flushing? what happeds if u dont for a LONG time ?

the grpcery has distiled water, and wal-mart. and a very samll poertion of poland springs gallons are distilled. it says on the labels.
