Depends mostly on your cooling ability and powersupply. If you have a powersupply that can run a larger peltier in terms of electrical amps, then sure, upgrading to a larger pelt will give you cooler temps and better performance. However, I beleive the MCW50 only holds 40mm peltiers. A 48-50mm peltier may not fit correctly, so definitely double check that a larger peltier will even fit. Someone else mentioned this in a recent thread, and planned on using a 172w peltier (normally used with 24v) instead of the 80w beast. The 172 running at 12v would give something like 90-100-110w or something, and its still a 40mm pelt.

But, make sure your watercooling system can handle the extra heat load as well. As long as you have at least one really good radiator, and the proper power requirments, you can change the pelt off and pick up maybe 10c lower temps, maybe 30-50mhz more with a GPU voltage mod. Or, keep the 80w peltier as is, it will work good as well :)
