I was an avid MMORPG player up 'til early 2001, and now a new comer has opened up a public beta test. Project Entropia looks to be a promising and immersive world :). Everything I've seen of the small area I've explored I've liked.
The story seems to be a new solar system has been uncovered that has one and possibly two inhabitable planets. The one that's currently being inhabited is Calypso.
You start (at least I did) a small ways from Fort Meduza, which was relatively empty (one AFK person) but I can't say anything; the game is only a week or so old. I explored and found ressurection terminals, repair terminals, trading terminals, etc., but nothing I could use due to my extreme lack of funds.
Which is another thing about the game. You buy money, with real money. The rate is 10 Entropia Dollars per 1 US dollar.
But you can convert it back into real money, giving you the possibility to actually gain a profit by playing a game.
But as far as I understand, money doesn't come easy. You have to mine, hunt, gather, build, etc. And all of those tasks are impossible without some investment to begin with, so it seems this game needs a little input to give a little output.
But I think the system is better than the standard $10/month.
