What gfx card is in there? I'm sure you could get into the 15k area with the setup.

Its a GeForce 4 TI 4200.... i took the core clock up to 275 MHz and the memory clock up to 545 MHz.... i was concered about heat as messing up the card so i didnt really push it.... i still have ALOT of slider left :D ... So whats the rule i juust push it as far as it will go without and display problems and if i run it for a while and it gets goofy again i just take it down some? Thats what im planning on doing later tonight after i get outta here (work :( Gotta pay for it somehow....)

See if you can check the ns rating on your RAM, that should give you a good idea of how fast it can be pushed. If it's covered, see if you can't find the info on the manufacturer's site or the box.

for the core, I push it up 10%, then go up 5MHz at a time. If it craps out during one run of 3DMark, then I back down 4MHz. If it's stable, raise it 1MHz, if it's not, lower it.

Sounds like a real nice set up there:)

Yep this is how I pretty much do it. Keep your eye out for artifacts after a few loops of 3Dmark. I tend to find the max core and memory speeds seperately. Then when I know the limits of each seperately, I try them in combination.

I'm assuming by your sig that you are running that KT333 mobo. With the memory you have, you'll be able to tweak out quite a bit more performance by running the memory at 166mhz. you'll need to unlock the chip (connect only the 5th L3 bridge with conductive grease). This will allow you to drop the multiplier and up the FSB using the 1/5 divisor to keep everything in spec. Even without overclocking the CPU per se, you'll reap huge gains. By upping the FSB above 166, you'll gain even more.

Good luck and congrats on the new set up:)

Yea my friend was telling me about that 1/5 divider a couple weeks ago. I really havent pushed it... the system is back down now until i can get another monitor :( I thought the XP 1800+ chips came unlocked? i read some reviews at newegg and alot of people said they were..... hrmmm ill let ya know later.. i cant wait to really push this computer :2guns:

hey nar,
If I remember right only the t-bred chips are unlocked.

About the video card, My Gainward GF4 Ti4200 does 324/600 with stock cooling, I can run it all day like that. I don't know who makes yours, but it should be close to mine.

Check the link in my sig.

Yea i was just playin in the BIOS the chip is unocked :) i tried boosting the FSB to 166 but it got all ghetto nad wouldnt boot... i thought it would do the 1/5 divider automatically but i guess i gotta set it to that somewhere.... Wes i got the 64 meg version of the car... mine tops out at 280/570 stock cooling (if i remember right its around there somewhere) i guess thats a good reason to put it on liquid (geez the to do list is getting loooong).

Hmm thats odd, I was told when buyin my card that the 128Meg versions don't clock as high, I guess I showed them huh :D

keep playin in that bios, you'll figure something out.
