pop-up=driving me nuts!

Can anyone tell me what the deal is with these pop-ups? I get them even when I'm not on-line(explorer not launched)! Do you think I have a virus or is there something else going on here? P.S. I use a cable isp.

Sounds like a nasty case of spyware :(. Do you have any ad-supported software, such as kazaa, AGS, or any thing like that?

To help fight it, try Ad-Aware (http://download.com.com/3000-2094-10121984.html?tag=lst-0-1). I've used it succesfully in the past, and it took care of most of my problems. I think that version is a bit out of date, so use this (http://download.com.com/3000-2094-10109053.html?tag=lst-0-2) to update it.

To fight off normal popups I use a program called Guard-IE. It keeps most pop ups at bay and only spyware-caused popups like the ones you're probably experiencing give it trouble. It also has a few other features like allowing you to save certain cookies to never be deleted and things like that. If you're interested but you can't find it, I can email it to you. Its ~800kb.
