Alpha Testing

Now that I have all the security taken care of, I would like to show everyone the new site. I would like as many people as possible to log in to the new site (you may have to register on the new site if your account on LN is pretty new) and make some test posts.

Now, the version of the database running is older. Every post that you make on this alpha site will eventually be lost forever. But, I want to make sure that the server can handle the load of many people, and is faster, and that everything with the database transfers work.

No, the site doesn't look different. Neither are there any added features yet. Once the site is moved on to the new server, then we can add stuff. But I want to make sure that everything involving the new server is good to go before the move. Once the testing is complete, and i get the stats software installed (the last piece), I can make the new site live. I will try to do this in small steps so downtime is limited.

But I hope you will be pleased with the speed improvements. Let me know :)

Had to use my old password when I login on the bottom of the page.

I'm in, Much faster and I'm on dial up! The old site would take over a minute. The new site pops right up!! :cool3:

I login on the frontpage on the bottom and I show up as logged in.

If I go to a forum and try to post I don't show in "users browsing forum" and when I try to post I get the login screen again and when I enter the proper digits and press OK I get a 404 :(

And when I click login I get an 404.
I'm using the same username and the same password.

I'm not getting any E-mail notifications, like enter your E-mail address and we will send you your password.
But it is quick!
This time I tried a whole new username password and E-mail and I got this:

If you log in from the bbs2/index.php page (the first page) you should beable to post. If you dont log-in before trying to make a new post, it will 404.

Email should work. Hrm.

Do any of you have firewalls running? I used to have this problem on a BB site I frequent and found out it was down to the BB software being a pain and requiring a cookie on registered users computers in order to keep them logged in.

I use a proggy called Guard I.E. that allows you to keep all the cookies you want, and also doubles as an excellent popup blocker. If you can't find it anyware I can email it to you, it's ~800kb.

Thanks for the offer Drake :) I don't know if I would need it ... I use ZoneAlarm Pro which blocks out most things, if I need to accept a cookie I turn cookie blocking off for a couple of minutes to allow the cookie into my system. Or I can manually configure ZA so it'll accept cookies from certain sites, just can't quite get it working LOL

Its still the same old copy of the database, but I beleive i've corrected many of the issues causing problems. Everyone should beable to log in still.

Email is still down on the new server. So, that functionality will not work yet. But, please see if ive corrected the login bugs.
