i have seen a company in the UK selling XP1800's with a tbred core ( www.aria.co.uk and look at todays offers, then read the comments about the xp1800)

how well are these going to overclock and how hot will they be.

at the mo, my pally xp1800 is clocked to 1760 and my taisol760 is struggling to keep it cool.

is a tbred core going to be harder to cool, and will it overclock better than my pally core?

The T-Bred A's stopped at 2200+, so you can expect a stable clock at that level. I have seen the chips run in excess of 1.9GHz, though.

You'd probably need a heavier-duty cooler. Not extreme like an SLK-800 (though that wouldn't hurt), but like a Vantec Aeroflow or Volcano 9.

am tempted to get an SLK 800, but i thought i would ask whats a good hesatsink in another thread!

as for the chip, according to overclockers.com, the average overclock for a pally xp1800 is 1750 or around there.

the average for the tbred is around 1950.

so there seems to be a bit more in them.

as its £50 odd i might have a play, but need to get the cooling sorted first!

im running an 1800+ @ 1710ish and with volcano 9 running at 34 to 36 c .... which i dont think is too bad for a 20 doller cooler:D

mine running around 1750-1760 at the mo, with 1.8vcore with a taisol 760 cooler and its doing around 45 or less in this cool weather.

hence why i am thinking of getting a better cooler like the slk 800, esp if i am either going to find the limits of this chip or get a tbred

I have the slk-800 paired with my XP24000. I've only played in the bios so far as I am waiting for some adapters to install the os... but the temp creeped up to 49C with a quiet 2500rpm fan... i'd guess with ~30cfm. I have a slightly better fan on the way... and I'll post back once I'm up and running.

I've a xp1800 tbred @ 1900 1.725v its posted as high as 2023, which im sure that on decent h20 it could run stably. my temps are on the order of 49-53c load depending on room temp. (this is with the same $6 aluminum cooler i used on my celey, i modified the clip so it was super tight
