Hi all ....
Could really do with some help from you overclocker's with the above kit.....
Having bought a innovatek cooling kit I was hoping for say 2300mhz ?????
Please help me out with the Advanced setup in the bios(1001e)
CPU external freq ?
... multiple setting ?
multiple ?
system performance ?
interface ?
memory freq ?
result freq ?
memory timings ?
fsb spread ?
CPU vcore setting ?
vcore ?
DDR freq volt ?
I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew ?????

Hello,
My 2400+ is locked with the system clock at 141MHz with a multiplier of 15.
My memory is at 422MHz
And I brought the CPU vcore up to 1.800V
I think I set the memory timings to 2 3 3 7 but don't quote me on that.
It runs stable and I'm happy with it.

I think I replied to this on another thread Here (http://www.liquidninjas.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2439) , but I'll repost. I had the same set up (A7N8X/2400/2x256 Corair) and ran the following with to start:
CPU Freq Mult Setting: 166
CPU Freq Multiple: 12
System Performance: User Defined
CPU Interface: Aggressive
Memory Frequency: Sync
Memory Timings: User Defined
Precharge: 7
RAS to CAS: 3
RAS to Precharge: 3
CAS: 2T
Keep the multi on 12. Your goal would be to get to about 2330mhz or so at around 194 x 12.
Keep the memory on sync. There is a huge performance hit when running the memory asynchronously.
Just start with the above settings, then increment up the FSB. Test the CPU with Prime95 along the way. Add core voltage as you go to stay stable. You may need to bump the memory voltage to about 2.75 when you hit the 180+ fsb range.
My best with the system I had was about 190 x 12 for 2280 air cooled. It was stable and ran very fast at these settings (could hit 18000+ on 3DMark).

mdzcpa I set the above in my bios and when it exited it would not restart ?????
There is something wrong in my bios ?????
if I set the below I get 2400xp 200mhz in startup screen ???
CPU external freq 133
... multiple setting auto
multiple 12.5\13x
system performance optimal
interface optimal
memory freq 200mhz
result freq ? 200mhz
memory timings ?optimal 9.4.4.2.5t
fsb spread ?disable
CPU vcore setting auto
vcore 1.65
DDR freq volt auto
now I have got 2277mhz using a muliple of 8.5\16.5 ?????
could it be the bois .....iflashed using aw1001e which is for my deluxe k7n8x but what ??????
momomark
on my carsair ram do I leave the metal clips on or off ???

I do not think anything is wrong with the board...but it is hard to tell.
Have you unlocked the XP 2400? You need to do this to access the other multipliers. To unlock, you need to connect the 5th L3 bridge.
The multiplier you are actually using with those settings you listed is the default 15 (15 x 133 = 2000mhz = XP 2400).
The BIOS screens always show:
... multiple setting auto
multiple 12.5\13x
When you are running at default multiplier.
Don't forget, you also need to set your "sytem performance" setting to "user defined" in order to adjust the multiplier.
Your memory is showing at 200mhz becuase that is what you set it at. You are running the memory asynchronously from the FSB.
Have you checked your FSB and multipliers with WCPUID?
I would start by setting up everything at default, then change only the multiplier and see if you can get that working properly before doing anything else.
I suggest BIOS 1001C. 1001G is definitely a problem as it does not allow the multipliers to be changed. 1001E has quirky multiplier problems.
And leave the clips on...they are just to make sure the heat spreaders do not fall off.

Found out my problem ,
I had another go at unlocking my 2400 and this time (cross my fingers ) it seems to be working ...
got it running at
clock 2233mhz
system bus 372.27mhz
......... clock 185 mhz
multiple 12
gone higher (2319 12x193 ,386bus) but 3dmark locked up
I here theres a new bios ?????

Yes, there are newer BIOSes out for the A7N8X but they either don't offer what an overclocker wants or have some strange quirks that nobody wants. 1001C is the best out at the moment.

Good start so far:) Seems to be coming together now.
I've heard good reports about the new A7N8X 1002 Beta BIOS. you can get it from the ASUS ftp server
HERE (ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/socka/nforce2/a7n8x-deluxe/) alonfg with the pdf readme.
It adds FSB adjustments up to 250, fixes some of the multiplier quirkyness, and adds a touch of stability at higher fsb speeds.
There are mixed results, but most seem happy.
And some caution, it is beta.
Check the a full thread about it HERE (http://www.amdforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=184596)

I flashed to the new 1002 bios Friday and everything is working great. The issue holding this board from high fsb is the Northbridge. To achieve stability over 190 fsb on the A7N8X you need to either use a good heatsink on the NB or remove the thermal goo from the factory sink and apply AS3. Also using a fan helps. I have ran at 2388@215 with no stability problems. Using mem slots 2 & 3 seem to work better. All we need now is a VDD mod for the NB and 230+ will then be possible.

Aye, I've seen many complaints that the nb heat sink is poorly affixed with the TIM that's provided.
I see you have one of Cathar's waterblocks, Quest. How well does it perform? Do you have anything to compare it to?

The Cather waterblock is worth it's price. The workmanship and quality is better than swiftech blocks and he hand laps them before they are shipped. Unfortunately I cannot compare it it any other block since this is my first water setup. Based on posts in other forums it performs 4~7C better than anything on the market. In a week or two there will be a comprehensive review of the WW against all the major blocks.

The release of the waterblock shootout results will be Jan 24. Bill Adams did the testing at Oveclockers.com. Rumor has it that it easily beat the TC4, Maze 3 and Swiftech blocks.

All I needed to hear :D When I do finally get my WC setup finished, there will definetly be a White Rapids in my system.

Nice job so far! Any pics? I'm curious about that WB.
