Hi guy's
I've been doing my homework on the AMD Athlon 2600+ T-bred and have found two very different statements...
this on is from HardOCP "One thing worthy of mention is that we've been informed that the next AthlonXP released, the 2800+, will ride a 333MHz bus" and its saying that the 2600+ will use the 266MHz FSB...
This one is from www.overclockers.com, were ive ordered my Athlon 2600+ T-bred from "The Athlon XP "Thoroughbred" 2600+ has a distinct advantage over the usual XP processors with a default FSB of 166MHz (DDR333) compared to 133FSB (DDR266) of other XP CPU's..."
which one to belive:confused: ...

You can get a 2600+ with a 333FSB or a 266FSB, if thats what your question is.

Yep...in a way both statements are right. Like Wes said, they come in both flavors. You need to be careful when you order that 2600 to get the one you want:)

apparently though... either one can run in 166fsb mode, I don't understand what the architectural difference is (If any) but you can just drop the multiplier and raise the fsb if you get the 133 version.
Does anyone know if AMD actually stress tests the FSB strength before they label things as 166 or 133 parts?

...also if you look at the review of the 2600+ at HardOCP it says that they could only get the FSB up to 165MHz before they had problems...

AMD Released the 2600+ at 133MHz FSB first, and when they were able to successfully manufacture processors at 166MHz FSB they switch the 2600+ over.
The [H] didn't unlock the processor, plus they were using the earlier 133MHz FSB 2600's. That's why they only got up to 165MHz FSB.

Yep...drake is right.
I would certainly unlock the 2600 if it is set at a 266mhz CPU bus and run it at 333mhz. It cannot hurt to try.

The Athlon XP 2700+ is on a 333mhz bus and is allmost the same as the XP 2600+ but is only on the 266 bus u can not buy a 2600+ with a 333mhz bus as far as i know !

After AMD started working a 166MHz FSB into their CPU architechture they decided to release a 2600+ 166MHz FSB version. Both are being sold, I believe.
