Hi soccrstar,
I would reccomend using goggles. Gloves are not nessacry unless you don't feel like gettin metal shavings n shuch on them. Good Luck.

Aye, goggles are a must. Anything else is preference.

Goggles are a must. If you are dremeling a lot of steel, then I recommend a dust mask (unless you want to choke on black snot for 3 days), a long sleeve shirt (unless you want to get a sunburn type rash, and leather gloves (the dremel gets hot, so does the metal, and one slip with that thing wihtout at least a little protection and your at the hospital getting stitches).
I also wear over-the-ear headphones. Im not worried about my hearing, but the noise gets annoying, and I feel better with the headphones on. If your going to be cutting for 3 hours straight, I recommend taking your time and making yourself as comfortable as possible.
Yeah, Ive learned to do this after having all of the above happening to me (except for the finger thing. I DID have gloves on at the time the dremel jumped on to my finger. The leather took most of the damage, without the gloves, I would have cut down to bone easy.)
