I used to work for Home Depot, and from my experience, Black and Decker is crap. They never last very long, IMO, and can cause alot more headaches.

Any Dremel brand. I just hate B and D with a passion. I broke more of those out of frustration than anything.

Aye, Dremel is the original and the best.

I personally would say screw eBay, go to Sears and pick up a $49 Dremel.

Looks okay, but it may be missing some pieces if I am not mistaken. Take a look at model 3964-02. It is a bit more pricey ($79.94 at Depot) but it has the flexible adapter, which is really great for detail. I still haven't done any case mods with it yet, but have done some nice wood projects and I like them alot. THey also make a cordless model without the flexi adapter, and its like $20 cheaper.

I say Dremel all the way. Dont bother with the standard cutting wheels, get the Fiberglass Reinforced Cutting wheels. They expensive, and youll go through a lot, but they cut through steel niice and easy.

I had a problem with the first dremel I had. The speed adj would not work right. I'd have to smack it to get it to go at full speed and then it would work for a few min and go back to slow again.

I'm going to pick up another soon and it will be a dremel. I never was much for the flex shaft. It allways got in my way so I'd just use the tool itself. I highly recomend the reinforced cutting wheels. The ones that come with it have a bad habit of shattering when your face is close to your work. :(

Are you just using eBay as an example or are you going to buy it from there?
If so why not just go to home depot or sears and pay the same price?

I'm not telling you what to do, thats just what I would do.:)

Most likely the better cut-off wheels don't come with it.

I just used the cut-off wheels that came with it when I did this:

Though it's a probably greater value, I imaging only a handful of the cutting wheels that come in the kit are fit for slicing aluminum, and even fewer ready to tackle steel.

Probably cheaper to buy the rotary tool, flex-shaft, and wheels seperate.

Hrm. I'm trying to remember what cutoff wheels are commonly used... the numbers 426 and 456 speak to me. Anyone else?

Thanks for the praise.

BTW that case was steel, but I did go through

Worth the effort, though, eh? I've yet to take a dremel to my case, but how the finished thing looks in my mind is beautiful.
