Maxtor 80gb 8mb Plus 9 ????

Hi all and a happy new year !!!!


Heres my problem.

Got the above harddisk and what ever I try I cannot get it to show 80gb in eather max blast 2 or in fdisk !!!!!!!

Ok so the jumpers are set correctly......

On my mothboard bios (k7n8x) it shows 81gb....

but max blast 2, fdisk it says I have 78gb ?????

help !!!!!

Gigabytes, Megabytes, Kilobytes - how are they defined... 1024? or 1000 times the previous?

its neva gon show has the full 80gb
welcome to the real world bud
my 60GB drive is 57gb formatted
my 80gigger iz 76gigs formatted
my 120gger iz 116gigs formatted

the dam HDD manufacturers need to reword wat they say.
keep sayin' 80gigs formatted wich isnt true. its 80gb NOT formatted. and less when formatted.

Drive makers like saying it's 80g and techically they're right.
