hi all,
I have nearly got my T-bred 2600+ and i am REALLY confused as to whether i need to unlock it or is it allready unlocked. Ive read loads of reviews and unlocking guides on the T-bred processors and i have also read in a post that they come allready unlocked, i have the A7N8x deluxe mobo if that helps...can anyone clear my head?????

thanks for any help

It will already be unlocked.

NY is correct. All XP 2600 CPUs are Thoroughbred "B" cores which come unlocked.

If you are having any trouble changing the multiplier using the A7N8X, make sure you are using mobo BIOS 1001C and not 1001G. 1001G is buggy and you cannot change the multipliers using that BIOS.

yea i have had that problem with my current processor AMD Athlon 1700 xp (palamino i think) and when i put the 1001C BIOS update i changed the multiplier and nothing happens...i can have it on say 12.5 with a 149MHz FSB and the clock speed will only be 1637MHz approx...its strange

The 1001C should let you change mutlipliers. I assume the XP 1700 you used was not unlocked then?
