Hi guys,
I have just got my new T-bred 2600+ processor and am eager to overclock. If i was going to use the "bridge crossing" method, i have no specialist materials...but ive heard that it can be done using a pencil...is this true??
And the other method by linking 2 pins on the processor with wire, do i need a certain type of wire, and i take it solder wouldnt do, would it? it seems a good choice because its bendy..but im thinkin it will melt...
One last thing, my processor is the 2600+ T-bred with 333MHz FSB, is this the A or B core??
...can u tell im new to this...:D
any help would be great
cheers

It is the B core.
B cores come unlocked (multipliers from 5-12.5 available w/o modifying the processor, mine did anyways)
The pencil trick only worked on old athlons / durons, the xp requires more difficult methods.
The wire type is not critical as long as it is super thin (obviously you only want to connect certain pins)
You should not need to do anything to unlock. Try changing your multiplier to 5x in bios to be sure. (it should then turn into a 833mhz procesor)
In the end your processors top speed will be limited by how cool you can keep it.

cool, thats great m8, thanks for ur help, but wouldnt my memory be the limiting factor as it is only 2100. My cooling is quite good i think cus i just got my Swiftech MCX462+ with a nice loud fan on it:D

it definatly is, esp. if its running at 133 only.
lower the multiplier up the memory speed as fast as it will go

surely, but youll want to get memory too... processor speed will help, but not as much as if you were running the 1700 @ 200fsb
