hummm i was going to suggest the lian li pc60 (or 61... one of them is in black) but for the size you want you'll need at least the pc70 which is pricy...

does it have to be aluminium and black? i really like the supermicro http://web6.scan.co.uk/Products/Info.asp?WPID=2429
or the thermal take http://web6.scan.co.uk/Products/Info.asp?WPID=39267

Although the style is fairly popular and now considered nothing special, I like the Directron Matrix (http://www.directron.com/ma01bd.html) case that takes on after the Antec/Chenming cases. Six 5.25" bays, six 3.75" bays, and room above the PSU to add a fairly large heater core.

It is aluminum as far as I know... I have one just like it, only a tad smaller.

If it's not aluminum, then this (http://www.directron.com/amx01bd.html) case is exacly like it, just missing two 5.25" bays.

[Edit]: Aye, I check out a review of the case and it's aluminum.

It may be steel Drake. I have an Antec 1035 that is the 4-bay one and it's steel.

If it is AL I hight have to pick one for my next box. Even though I see my case EVERYWHERE I still like the design.

That and the pc70 is too damn much money :)

<edit> you're quick drake :cool2: The pictures are of the steel case but it says it's AL

I'm getting confused. Drake do you have a link to the full tower review?

Drake

It's under the pictures section on the link to the case. I'd give a link but its a popup window.

well between the two (money not issue) wich would u get
the Lian-LI PC-71 case or the maxtrx one from directron?

I personally like the Antec style cases, no matter how overused they are. I'm in a podunk town in the middle of Texas so my friends are amazed no matter what everyone else thinks :p.

The Lian-Li's are nice, but they just don't suit me. Look too blocky for me. But a PC-71 would fit your needs nicely.

Erhm, sorry 'bout that. Didn't see the second page of the review.

If cutting the case is the issue, steel isn't impossible. If weight is, I'm afraid you're stuck.

However, this (http://www.directron.com/amx01bd.html) case is nearly identical and made of aluminum.

Take your pick (http://www.directron.com/fullall.html). Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/app/manufactory.asp?catalog=7&DEPA=1) is also an great place. Just select 'ATX-Full Tower' from their size drop-down menu.

And as I said, any of the Lian-Li PC-7x series would suit you quite well, and they are all aluminum.

Hi sccrstar,

I am in the market for a full black tower case myself at the moment, I would also like my case to include a precut window and some level of suitability towards water-cooling.

I don't however care whether it is alloy or steel, and I'm not sure what you believe the advantages of alloy in a case are anyway.

Particularily in black where you cannot benefit from the brushed metal look anyway. Unless you are going to be moving the fulltower around alot, or you just can"t live without large quantities of black anodizing nearby, I'm not sure alloy represents good value these days.

This is what I plan to buy in the next month http://www.coolpc.com.au/shop/index.html?prod=113

The money saved on this unit over a lian li will get me well started on the equip needed to water-cool.

Good luck........If I won lotto I might buy a lian li too.

sup,

the only couple advantages i see of havin' aluminum over steel is that alunimum case makes it like 10C/F cooler inside. thats that lian-li says. thats their moto etc
and its alot lighter. the matrix case is 35/35+ pounds.
and it'll get hella lot heavier especially if u watercooling. but dan again not gon move it. but if i waz to b goin' to college etc. i'd hafta like take it apart remove hardware to make it lighter etc

Fair enough,

I didn't realise that the temp difference was that substantial.

I run so much air thru my box that I don't believe that there would be much temp differential to dissapate to the room.

But in a field where every little bit counts....Knock yourself out.
It sounds like you will have quite a nice box happening.

Cheers--UR

Remember that Lan-Li says it's 10deg cooler.

In real life with out the spin it's far lower or non-existant.

But they are light and pretty.

Drake

Perhaps ten degrees cooler compared to a case with half the number of fans...

If you have proper airflow, it really doesn't matter what your case is built out of. I've seen cardboard boxes that match my average temp of 2C above ambient.

I have never bought anything from Case-Mod.com (http://www.case-mod.com/store/default.php?cPath=43_45), but they do have some nice looking cases that I haven't seen before.

Worth a look.:)
