I'm famous! I'm famous! thanx for the generous frag comment [alex] are we allowed to call you that?:p seems like the card is good, always nice to have options other than nvidia. It seems like you got some really dodgy 4200's though, not that the smoke and fumes evidence isn't enough... good work m8! I may have to give this card a shot next system I build up for someone... I always knew ati had the qualitiy, now it seems the drivers are up the task too.

Thanks guys :D
I'm still getting strange results with 3Dmark but I've been cracking 13000. Still it's strange how I get 12920 and run it again right after and I get 12650. Still I'm very happy with the card. :)
NY, acually I've had more ATI cards than Nvidia ones. The 4200 was the only Gforce I've owned. I'm still using the Radeon 64DDR vivo I bought when it came out.

it may be way more time consuming.... but try only running the bench after a fresh restart. The system is always fastest then.... don't know why, probably cause the ram fills up and some negotiation occurs as to which slots to clear / refill slows her down? Not sure really... but if you power up, bench... then restart... bench, the results should be drastically closer to each other. Worth a shot... as long as u have some time to sit and wait for reboots. Have fun!

does anybody know how much better the 9500 is over the 9000?

Infinitely. Well, depending on what you're doing. The 9000 series is just a DX9 version of the 8500, basically.
If you're not doing serious gaming, though, the 9000 series will suffice, but, IMHO, the extra $80 or so is worth it.
