SUWIN error

ok, on the 800 box, win ME acts fine under safe mode but out of control normal boot, sys restore doesnt help.
so... i try the re-install of ME several times under different boot scenarios still the same error "SUWIN caused a general protection fault in mod verx.dll at 0002:24ae"
hheeeeeeeeelppppppppppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


p.s. tries msconfig diabling a whole lotta s**t still to no avail
p.p.s. it happens at 61% of installation (bar graph thingy) every time

after carefull recitation of a satanic OS chant, all else failed.
i put XP on it. its okeedokee now oh well, no more diagnostic boot disk (1) anymore. tso'kay.
does M$ Millenium Ed. have an expiration date like gateway computers? just askin!
