I would like to overclock my rig:

Athlon XP 2100+
Asus A7V333 mobo
512meg DDR 333
GeForce 4 Ti4600

but am a little unsure how to best go about it. I know it's all about changing the multipliers and cpu/pci frequency.

Everything, at the moment is running at factory settings .... Mulitplier of 13 and cpu/pci frequency of 133/33. I have upped the frequency a couple of notches in the past using the bios settings but couldn't take it too far before my rig refused to boot up LOL.

So basically I don't have much of a clue as to what's the best way to go about it. With any luck my PC will be watercooled by next year (I have half of the components, just waiting on PCLincs getting the rest) so want to know how to push everything that bit further as I won't have to worry as much about it over-heating.

Any advice?

You're going to have a tough time unlocking your 2100+.

Check the bottom of This (http://www.liquidninjas.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&postid=16245#post16245) thread on some insight on unlocking the 2100. Also there is a good giude in our General overclocking (http://www.liquidninjas.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=FAQ&file=index&myfaq=yes&id_cat=5&categories=General+Overclocking+FAQ%27s) FAQ

Now to the motherboard. I've never had good luck getting high FSB numbers on ASUS boards. I have a A7V266-E that does 150 stable but Synthohol has a board bought from the same vendor minutes apart and his has trouble over 145. ASUS makes rock steady boards but sometimes it's hard to hit the high FSB's with them. Just keep raising the FSB till you have issues and then back it down one to be safe :)

You can look around an find a bunch of progs to overclock your card. PowerStrip is one of them RivaTuner is another. I use the coolbits registry hack and it gives me the option to change clock speeds in the advanced settings tab.

That should get you started :cool3:

Thanks for the quick reponse. I know all about the problems unlocking an XP 2100+ and I don't have the ability, or the balls, to try to do it either. So I'll have to stick with what I can do with what I have.

At the moment I'm just interesting in trying to O/C my processor as that will be the awkward one to mess with. When I do go on to my G/card I'll just use the reg hack so I can o/c it.
