Is there a site which list the various videocard chipsets in order of speeds?

there are soooooo bloody many different combinations out there i just don't know where to start.

In the new year, i may be looking at getting a new one in the region of £150.
Dosn't have to be bleading edge, i still only play CS so is hardly a strain on my GF2 GTS, let alone an new fangled one. I'm looking more for value for money. I also don't require DVI (can't see i will in the next 5 years or so!) and don't use the vivo features on the card i have at the mo - so thats unimportant really.
Or maybe i should wait till the FX comes out and the GF4 prices drop and get one of those??

The other thing is i don't tend to bother overclocking my videocards, so that fairly unimportant as well...

TIA

R300 - Radeon 9700 and 9500
NV28 (or 18) - GeForce 4 Ti
R250 - Radeon 9000 and 8500
NV18 (or 28) - GeForce 3 MX

Best bet, IMHO, would be to wait for the FX to hit and then get a 9500 pro. They should release at $200 and definetly be $150 by the time nVidia releases another card.

I agreee with Drake if you can wait a bit.

If you need it now I'd say pick a Ti4200.

Just saw this on the [H] Shep GPU guide (http://www.boogletech.com/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=26)

That should help a little.

Or confuse you more ;)

Interesting article. I think i'll wait until the FX arrives then buy a 9700 in one of it's various forms (price dependent).
... gives me time to work out what todo with my current mobo/cpu

I'd recommend Tyan Tachyon. As soon as I saw the Tyan name on it I'd new it'd be a helluva little card, and from what all I've heard about it, it is.

Here's a review (http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NDA0) the [H] (http://www.hardocp.com) posted.

...and I've just seen the price of that thing, $400!
If i was to get that card it better drop to at least $200 by the time i come to ordering my new setup

All 9700s have been $400 when first released. I've never seen one below $350 retail or online. No 9700 is going to below $200 before the FX comes out.

And THG has a comparison of 29 of the latest gfx cards. Check it out here (http://www.liquidninjas.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=2269).

If your budget is £150, isn't that something like $190?

Anywho, if you can't wait for the FX to drop prices, I'd say get a 9700 non-pro or either of the 9500s. It seems that the 9500s are solid-performing cards that have the best performance/price ratio.

No OCing abilities as of yet, though :(.
