Anybody has any experience with a fairly new PSU brand called LEVICOM ? I think they're German.

I saw 2 of their models and they pretty much look like Enemax PSUs (bulky,2 fans,gold shields,heatsinks,200 cables etc).

Only visual difference is that these are black and shiny !

Hmmm...I've not heard of these before. I'll look into them and see if I can dig up any info.

Hi The Therion,

Here is a little data on the 420 Watt model.

420 Watt:
+ 3,3 Volt: 28,0 Ampere
+ 5,0 Volt: 30,0 Ampere
+12,0 Volt: 15,0 Ampere
- 5.0 Volt: 0,5 Ampere
-12,0 Volt: 0,5 Ampere
+ 5,0 Voltsb: 2,0 Ampere

The reviews seem to be fairly good, I read them in German, and looks like most users really like them.

Didn't find any data in English, so, I assume that they are only available on your side of the pond.

Hope this helps.

Take care.....

Speaking of power supplies... what did you guys think about this review? I didn't know the cpu runs off the 12V line, it sounds kinda silly to me.... seing as how they only take a 1.65V dose.

Do you guys think I'll need to upgrade when I go socket-a? My curreny power sup... antec pp303x with specs:

3.3V = 14A
5V = 30A
12V = 10A

According to the article... my new system will draw twice this power, sounds a little fishy.

ummm i thought the cpu ran off the 5 volt line? the 12volt is for peripherals like cd drives harddrives and fans?

If you read: http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/white_papers_and_tech_docs/26003.pdf

You will see that the Athlon gets its power from the 12v line. And an overclocked CPU can probably use upwards of 10 amps from the PSU alone.

So you can see why this is important :)

Thanks Mike :)

I read a PSU review at tomshardware,but it was not analyzing each PSU mush (there were 21).The Levicom seems good although Tom concludes the Antecs and some other brand ,are the best.

The Enermax seems to be below the Levicom in mosts tests though.....hmmm....

Antec can give Tom a bigger check, hence the better rating. :D

I have no problems with my Antec PSU's (3) but some have and there are more stable ones out there.

What would you suggest Farabomb ?

I've been using the Antec TruePower 430w with no problems. Before that it was a 350w Antec and I had no problems. I use them mainly because I can just walk into the local CompUSA and pick one up. :)

There is also the ones from Vantec that I hear good things about and the TTGI (http://www.extremeoverclocking.com/reviews/cases/ttgi_420ss_1.html) that I think Player0 uses. If you can find it I'd pickup the TTGI or the Antec

Hey guys,
I bought a 500W aluminin Raidmax PSU a while back for like $62, I've never had any probs, I don't know how good the rails are supposed to be, but this is it underload at 1.9Vcore.

I'm still running with the standard chieftec 340w that came with my case. Does anyone know how these perform compared to everything else? (never seen one mentioned in a review!)

Alex:confused:

Hi Alex,

First, :D :D WELCOME :D :D to Liquid Ninjas.

Secondly, if it works, it is fine.
There are many brands out there and for the money they all work.
Chieftec is not the best, but it is not the worse either.
As long as it has the power to run all of your toys, it is fine.
If you start to notice any changes in performance, then it might be time for an upgrade, till then you will do OK.

Take care.........
