This is the full version of the game, with the latest patches installed. There's no password, and room for 8 players. Currently set on DeathMatch, but can be changed to something more popular if requested. The server box and dsl line are pretty much dedicated right now, so the performance should be awesome, even on this old hardware.

I dunno...i can usually play any time from 12pm GMT to 6am GMT on weekdays. Weekends are pretty much always open :) I work until 6pm EST tho usually, which is why i cant get on until late.

theres about 8 hours difference between here and the U.K., you guys are waaay ahead of us. Unless you guys are up really late at night, I think were gonna keep missing each other. Like.. right now it's 4:30PM, and 12:30AM for U.K., u guys are probably sleeping :o

I did the math once when I was chatting w/ dicki on IRC and I thought it was 5 hours but I'm probally mistaken or that's just where dicki is.

If one weekend you want to hook up and play just set a date and time and I'll be there. :thumbsup:

Tried to enter the ip address (favorites, open an ip)but nothing happens. cant see you on the master server list either.

You mention a specific port, if this needs to be entered I don't know how ?

any tips ?

I just typed the IP in and it worked. Till something else came up ;)

is UT2003 better or worse then the old UT with regards to bandwidth ?
cos i cant play UT :( also dont have UT2003 :(

Seriously im well up for a game but its gotta be a low bandwith engine or i just stand their wobbling, occasionally running into walls then i get shot, not much fun :D

i got dial-up too.. it sux :( but when we had the demo server up i had some 400 ping and i did'nt seem to be lagging much at all. I did'nt get to play last night cause i needed the newest patch. but it said i was pinging around 329 so that's not to horrable.

Weirdness...I have the latest patch installed on the server.

In terms of Ping... UT2003 actually is very playable up to 300-400 ping. Yes, you will notice some lag, so using rail guns is going to be difficult. But i've played on servers all over the world with 300 pings and was able to do quite well. I think the networking engine is very impressive with this game. When I used to play the original in the UK, I was getting 150-250 pings, and wasn't playing nearly as well as I do with 350 pings with UT03.

Bozo and 888 were getting 170-250 pings last night, how did it feel to you guys?

KMS, will consider CS server. I haven't actually ever played it yet. I might play around with it sometime this weekend or something. Im sorry though, one of the unfortunate laws of the universe is that no one with kids or is over 30 can beat me at any FPS. So I'm afraid you don't have a chance ;)

Well I am only running on a p3 800 with a the original geforce ddr card with all settings on minimum. To be honest the whole game feels sluggish to me anyway, You did kill me a number of times before i even saw you but I suspect that had more to do with me not knowing the maps and you dropping down from good vantage points. for some reason my ping always displays as zero so i cant really tell whether it is any diffferent from uk based servers where i would expect a very good ping.

I have had much worse lag than i got last night on original ut.

Bozo, if you install the latest patch, it should correct the 0 ping problem, and improve game play as well. It will definately improve visual issues.

Yeah, it requires a lot of graphics power to run this game. I played last night on a XP2700+ and a Radeon 8500DV with mediumish settings, and I keep a constant 40-50FPS. The game feels more Quake like to me really...I used to think the original UT was sluggish myself. I have my Mouse speed set to 7 and can dodge pretty good so I can get around i guess :) Definitely sounds like a good excuse to upgrade from that Geforce :)

rofl, im only 30 so dont fall into the over 30 catagory :D got kids though :D the original UT engine wanted too much b/w than my slowdem could handle so resulted in muchious lag outs, pings a hinderer but not the end of the world. The half life enigine as basic as it is is fine for low b/w so if you could set one up a 30 year old father of two can then frag your a$$ :D lol. I'll borrow a m8's UT2003 this weekend if i can prise it out of his hands, if it plays ok i'll buy it :)

I should have rephrased that to say 30 or older. Nothing like having kids around to slow you're reflexes, they're needed elsewhere ;)

Ill see about setting a CS server up this weekend. Oh, if anyones curious, I disabled the UT2003 server advertising. So it probably wont show up in the server browser. This *WILL* allow hacked clients (my friend did last night) to connect now tho. Fara? Will it work for you now? Anyway, youll just have to type the IP in manually or add it to your favorites.

I added MapVote2 to the UT2003 server, so you can vote on maps and such. Took me 2 hours to get from bloody FilePlanet, but I think it was worth it.

Opinion time! I have a ton of great UT2003 maps downloaded. I can add these to the server if people want some variety. Please let me know if this is something I should do? The downside is that you will have to download the maps.

This can be done real time - as you load the game - or I can set up an FTP account so peps can pre-download the maps.

What are the thoughts?

I don't think the d/l matters to people with BB but the modem users will suffer. FTP might be the wat to go.

The map vote is great but take out the inferno map till I get some more memory ;)

Changing of the maps don't bother me, i'll just need to know ahead of time. That way i can d/l them from work. Plus i have about 60 of them already. (my ut install was 2+gigs :D)

FYI - Server is temporarily down until I can get DSL line restored. Hopefully I can do that before Xmas.

Ill still be hosting a game tommarow (Tuesday) as I hope to make a routine of. So, 8pm EST is good yes? I suspect people will show up at like 7 and some at 9...so, sometime around then is good. :)

The IP will be slightly different tho (will be hosting on the cable line), ill be sure to post the new IP here tommarow before the game.

I wont be adding new maps just yet...will want the FTP i guess.

I do beleive the server to be down.

P0 should be able to give an estimated time of when it will be back up.

The server is up, but the DSL line is down.

You can try: 24.169.130.16 until I get the DSL fixed. Thats my cable line, but should still work as good :)
