Hi fellas,

After almost four years playing with AMD, I went to the dark side! (well... not completely)

Well, the reason? no reason here! I just received for free a Shuttle XPC (SS51G - P4 based), and I must admit I am really impressed with this little box. The only part that I had to buy was the processor, and I ended picking up a P4 2.0GHz northwood. After a simply Vcore mod I pushed this puppy to 2.66GHz with full load temps at 55c. We must thank the excellent heat pipe technology they use to cool the CPU. the only con here is the missing RAID, well I can live with that...

Well I hope you guys still like me after this, hehhe

cheers KODE.

Hi Kode,

Free is hard to beat.

Most of my test systems at work are P4, so I guess I am getting used to them.

All my systems at home are AMD tho.

Congrats on the good clock.

Take care.........

Hi Dicki,

They're terribly silent, They have a feature called "Auto-guardian" that adjust the fan speed according to the CPU temp. If you disable this feature in BIOS the fan will run at aprox. 3600rpm all the time no matter the CPU temp. In this mode they're still fairy silent.

Just remember to buy one with an AGP slot, cause the on-board video are crap. (SS51G for P4 or SK41G for XP)

Regards, KODE.
