Losing connections after 30 seconds

I'm building up an old system for a mate at work. Bit of an old shed of a system but does him fine.
Problem I'm getting is I can connect to the internet and send and receive mail, display websites up to 30 secods in time and then it disconnects. I have checked all the usual settings and even used the automatic internet settings installer that is downloadable from the ISP.
Any Ideas?

have you tried a different modem cable?

If call waiting is enabled, it will cause havoc with internet.

Have your m8 make sure it is disabled.

OK, sorry if I kept you waiting.

I sussed it by downloading a new driver and firmware. Installed the firmware and then the driver and hey presto!
