I undid the Enermax mod...and now my PC wont boot right!
BIOS seems okay, but as soon as I start to the RAID bios portion, things slow down to a crawl, as though the board is having a hard time talking to the hard drives.
IM gonna try to reflash bios, but im afraid something was damaged, anyone experience something like this?

Hi Tom,
Silly questions, but, when you undid the mod, did ya make sure that there was no solder bridging the connections?
Other than that, I'm not much help.
Take care.......

I just turned down the pot...i didnt remove it completely.
Other drives work okay in the machine now.
But not my WD1000BB drives. They take FOREVER to find in BIOS, although it does find them, and reports no errors. Weird.
Im gonna run some WD diagnostics, and then see if I cant repair this boot problem.

Geeezuuuz...I found the problem. The 5v rail is 0.617v going to the drives!!!!!! the motherboard is okay...but the drive rails are toast!
I hope this hasnt damaged anything. ack.
need new PSU.

Yikes:eek:
Yep, sounds like it would be best to wait for a new PSU. Sounds like that EG465 is FUBAR'd pretty good.
Keep us posted:)

Which PSU is giving you the .6 5v rail??? The Enermax or the PP403?

The old enermax was. The motherboard gets 5v...which is why i didnt notice the problem until I whipped out the DMM and measured the voltages. 0.6v. Must have blown a transistor in the Enermax. It was shakey for a few days and it finally went, and im a dumba$$ for continuing to use it instead of just holding off for a few days.
Who knows what else was damaged?
Anyway, I have an RMA from Western Digital. They are both covered thankfully. How long will it take me to get the replacement drives?
Guess I put the lan box together. Might be a good time to add some more BIX radiators to the cube.

Yeah...its a 2 week set back but...such is life. Live and learn :) I didnt really loose anything, so no biggies.
Just learn my lesson is all...DONT DONT DONT every try and use a PSU you think might be damaged without fully testing it first ;)

Like you said at least you didnt loose anything:D
So far this past week I managed to break the tabs on 2 KX7-Raid mobos, Fry one XP2100 and one XP2000 and last but not least I completely tore the socket lose on my KR7-Raid, its dead. I'm running a borrowed XP1800@2030 stable:) on my orignal non Raid KX7, crappy week. This dam MX-EVA cooler has some funky Mounting. I may have to go Intel just for the Mounting System:D

Ordered the TruePower 550 today, and sent my poor two dead WD1000JB drives back to WesternDig for RMA.
There was a 21 gun salute today...
