hi guys
I was copying stuff from a cd onto hard disk, when i got this message:
http://www.furryweb.com/error.gif
any ideas what it means???

A Cyclic Redundancy Check is mostly used when transferring files from one location to another. The CRC performs a mathematical calculation on each block of data and returns a number that represents the content and organization of that data, the idea being that the CRC calculates a number that is unique to that data (this number is sometimes called a checksum.) When the blocks of data reach their destination, the receiving system will also make the calculation on the same block of data and compare the results. If the numbers are different then there has been a problem in transmission.
In your case it can happen due:
- Bad media.Try another media. If the second disk works without error, the first disk may be damaged. If the second disk also failes:
- Check the cable and connections. If you are still receiving the same error:
- Test the drive on a different computer.

hmmm... must be the disk!
Tried it on a different computer and got the same, and also another disk in the same drive and it was fine... Kind of annoying, because I only bought it today - but at least I know what it is!
thanks

Hi DCMan,
Another thought is that the CD may be "right protected."
There are a few companies that still do that, especially game CD's..
Take care........
