I had been using Microsoft SideWinder Pro. I use them to play emulators. The Pro worked just fine, software was acceptable. But the damn d-pad was stiff and wears out my fingers too fast. So I gave them to my GF who uses them, and I got some Logitech Wingman Actions for myself. The controller is nicer on the thumbs, but damn! The software doesn't seem to be working correctly in Windows XP. I can't use this thing for any of my emulators and the key mapping software absolutely sucks.

So I'm stuck now. Logitech controllers are better, but crappy software. Im worried that if I buy a better controller, the software will still suck. MS controller software works just fine, but the controllers are too big and stiff.

Theres always gravis, but those are pretty cheapy joysticks. Fara mentioned getting a USB adapter so I can use PS/PS2 joysticks, which would rock but...im still concerned about software compatibility.

Ideas?
