HO hum.

Looks like I completely wsted my time last night. REALLY annoyed with this motherboard now, wish I had never set eyes on the thing.

PC still reboots after a cold boot. Cant get the fans to show up in the bios but they are displayed in the hardware monitoring program. But what is really driving me crazy is why my GF3 card will NOT work in this mobo.

Any suggestions welcome.

I have got hold of an elsa gladiac 920. My PC will not Boot at all with this card installed all the lights come on the drives ininitialise and then nothing, no picture, no beeps from motherboard - just sits there doing nothing.

I have had the card in another motherboard a 250 watt p3 system - no problems, i have also had the card in a different motherboard that used to occupy the case it is now in - no problem.

Tried an older original gforce 225 in the kr7a-133 - no problem

So i know it is not the card, and i know the agp port is working put the two together - nothing:confused:

Sounds like a power supply issue? Which one are you using?

DDR motherboards are very picky about their powersupplies, beleive you me :)

I agree that it definitely sounds like PSU troubles. Be aware that the recent high performance mobos are real power hogs too. In addtion, I've been using Abit mobos for a few years now, and they all seem particularly sensitive to PSU porblems especially with power hungry graphic cards.

You should be running no less than a high quality 300 PSU. And bigger would be even better. And never skimp on the quality. Antec and Enermax come to mind as reputable makes.

I thought that, which is why I moved everything last night to another case which had worked no problem with a similar xp chip and the gf3

Both the power supplies are 300 watt (one is Aopen)

Was it a similar motherboard though?

My experience with Aopen has not been pleasant. I had a client with 30 different various Aopen machines, all built by their last PC person, who got a deal on Aopen parts I guess. The things were constantly problematic. PSUs that just die, or lock up. Motherboards that support some chips but not other. Forget any sort of ram compatibility. Cdroms that the gears end up going out on, modems that burn out.

I tell ya, im not a big aopen fan after all of those experiences ;) Anyway, I still recommend going to Best Buy and getting an Antec 350 or 400w PSU. If it does the same thing, well take it back :)
