hey uh, this might be a dumb question, im not so great with audio electronics...ok, i just hooked up my piece by piece surround sound in my room, spliced the wires etc. all different speakers lol...but my question is this:

CAN i hook up my stereo(it has aux. setting) up to my laptop?
i have a dvd playa on it, and i wanna try out mah new setup! :)

any help would be appreciated...

Yes it can be done. here's how i did it.
I have an cable that has a small mic like jack on it, that splits into 2 rca jacks, one red ,one white. I just plug the small end into my speaker out port on my comp, and the two rca cables into my aux ports on my sound system. I just switch my sound system to aux and everyting works fine. I'am assuming your laptop should work the same way, as long as you can hook a set of speakers up to it, u should be set to go. I don't know where u can find that cable at, i got it from school.

1/8" Stereo Mini to RCA, they have em at most Radio Shacks for about 4 bucks. Well worth it, and versatile.

like the lads say grab an adaptor and plug it in! if you are playing in prologic your surround sound setup will decode it properly too :)
