By starting a SETI team. I can honestly say that in all my time at NinjaMicros 95% of all problems and disputes have their roots in the DC groups. Why do you think I resisted joining them for so long? I think you all know me well enough to know that what I say can be taken at face value without any underlying agenda.
You have created a rod for your own backs here guys, get rid before its too late! :)

Hi Berks,
Ive had those exact same concerns about this. I have no intentions on ever letting DC get out of control on this board as it has in the past on NM.
Its basically a trial thing. As soon as I start seeing problems, Im shutting it all down.
I dont understand why DC is such a disputed thing? I havent been doing it long enough to know. Its just a software program, its barely competitive. I dunno.
But thanks for the advice, I will be watching very closely in here. I dont want to ruin our good start with this place :)

Which is why TP, or any other team for that matter, should be kept completely seperated from the rest of the board. It is when the "outsiders" try to jump in, to comment or moderate that the disputes and troubles get out of control.

Being someone who has never been into DC much, I also agree that caution should be used. Berks is correct about DC being the heart and soul of turmoil.
Player0: I will back you 100% in monitoring this DC stuff closely. I have indeed signed up for the LN Seti team where I will dabble some, but it will not be my primary focus here at LN.
The DC reigns here should be very short.

Why don't you pull the plug on it now. This project is already on probation. May this be the shortest lived Team. Some of you need to lighten up abit.

Prohibation? How you mean?
As for lightening up...well, we're on a speed bump right now as we deal through some issues, but I think things will work out :)

Crazydude....with all due respect, i beleive you are judging our concern about DC activities without knowing all of the details of our situation here.
As a public forum here, I will not get into those details. But suffice it to say we have our reasons. :) We just want to wiegh the options fully.
Thanks for understanding :)
I think it would benefical to learn from the mistakes made over the years a NM in regards to TP. I believe NY has been with TP long enough to know what needs to be done to keep the problems and issues under control.
Above all else, do not let your emotions rule any moderating decisions. You are off to a good start, and keep the interest up as 'others' are watching your progress with interest.

And you do know that, despite our sadness at losing you guys, we'd always take you back..! ;)
Gyp, trusting that LN's team will probably go ahead, but still wanting to leave the door open... just in case. :D

Hi gypseyman,
I left, not because of TP or the people there.
Thank you for the offer to take us back. It is duly noted and appreciated.
As TGC stated, "others" are watching.
We need to make a go of it and to make it work, we must maintain control and keep it focused on the task at hand.......To crunch for SETI. Among other things, that means not posting off topic subjects. There needs to be control by us, to maintain the drive and integrity of the forum.
My two cents worth.
Take care.........

Hear hear,
Good on you guys at giving it a go. Everyone moves on and times change. DC can be a flashpoint, but generally people do it because they enjoy it.

You have created a rod for your own backs here guys, get rid before its too late! :) could'nt agree more berkswolf re: past problems at NM but that IMHO is down to a combination of complicated factors mostly linked to TP's past, & it being a trekky seti team bigger than the hardware board it lives on, all be it under a different set of rules. :)
It should work fine here, a dc team as a minor sub section to a hardware site, there is no commercial reason or drive here for the team to succeed, there are no commercial reasons why gestapo like rules should be imposed, so as with many other pure hardware sites it should be fine give or take the odd trouble casuing thread and /or individual(s) :)
btw dick i thought you'd been crunching dnet at OCS for years?, joining TP straight after a major troublesome time, just as i left :)
p.s no offence should be read into the above paragraphs in the slightest by anyone!

Hi KMS, no offence taken at all. :)
Its true I did run RC5 for a year or so, but it was really low key, and yes i did join Team Picard after a bit of a bust upon their forum. Strangely enough it was the way that it made me laugh that finally got me to join. :)
I still don't like the SETI method of the units going with the producer when/if they change team. I beleive they should remain with the team the member was in when they crunched them as it is with RC5. Were this the case there would be far, far less people changing teams all the time.
Footnote:- The above is in no way aimed at any member of the LN team or indeed any other team, its just my own opinion. :)
lol, i think if every seti forum had footnotes or p.s'es like on our last 2 messages berks it would solve half the problems of posts being read not in the light intended :)
