Hi Mike,
Great review.
Makes me ALMOST want to go and buy one. :D
I think I will stay with my "paid for" mobos, before I go and spend MORE money.
Wife has spoken........Enough for a while!!
Take care.......
PS.......But I get to put together my new water cooling system first.
Thanx to Rob and Tom for the parts.

Great review, def. Im really glad that you compared it to the KX7333 and the KR7A, as I dont recall anyone else doing that so thouroughly yet.
You couldnt get your memory to run any faster than that at 200mhz eh? Is this with stock Vio?

Thanks for the kudos guys:)

Actually I can get that Corsair XMS 3200 512 memory to absolutely rock on the KD7. I had it up to 210 at CAS 2, 4 way, 2,6,2 running great. Unfortunately, harddrive corruption came to roost and rained on that parade:( The corruption happens at any speeds above 202-3mhz....so I didn't count the memory benches at anything above that as real.
However, on the bright side, being able to run the Corsair stuff at 200mhz max timings was more than enough to outgun the KX7 which needed relaxed timings to run at 200mhz.
He-he, you've made HardOCP! :D
Congratulations Mike, great review

I don't see why the socket orientation is such a big deal... Even if you can't get your fingers in there in a tight case, just pop out the power supply? ... Adds an extra minute at most to HSF installation.

I couldn't agree more....that's why I characterized it as "small complaint" :)

Hi Polarhound,
By the way, would like to :D :D WELCOME :D :D you to Liquid Ninjas.
Glad to have you aboard and posting in the threads.
I have a case that I need to remove my PSU everytime I need to get to the CPU. A VERY small inconvience, indeed. Takes a whole two minutes or less.
If that is the drawback, then I see none.
Take care.........

Hmmm, methinks I may have a slightly dodgy KD7 then.
I bought the non-raid version of this board, as I've had great success with the older KT7/KT7A/KR7A boards.
I'm running a Thoroughbred 2200 and Corsair XMS3200 in it at the moment, and have only managed 180Mhz FSB stable. If I run at 185FSB, I cannot format my Seagate 40GB 7200, If I run at 190, my WD 30GB 7200 gets corrupted.
I've played around relaxing mem timings, and voltages, but to no avail.
anyone got any ideas? Gee I miss the VIO adjustment, where did Abit hide that one?

Three helpful tips:
First, flash to the latest BIOS B8 if you haven't already. This makes a BIG difference in stability at high FSB speeds.
Make sure you have selected the 5:2:1 divisor ratio when running 166mhz or above.
Make sure your CPU Fast Command Decode is set to "Normal".
Maybe this will hlep you.:)

Also, would like to :D :D WELCOME :D :D you to Liquid Ninjas.
Glad to have you aboard and posting.
The name Draxx looks familiar. What other boards have you been on?
Take care......

Mike: Cheers for the tips, but I've already tried all of those. I've actually just sent an email to ABit to see if they have any ideas. I'm kinda dissappointed at this stage, as 200x9 (or higher) sounds nice :)
I'll keep on trying though. I'll keep ya posted on my progress :)
lechumbl: Cheers for the welcome! I've been in a few forums in the past, mostly OCAU, but sometimes in AMDMB & a few others I cant think of at 2am :D
Great site BTW!
