Anyone have comments about it?

I peaked into it today with my 14 day trial. I love X3 and the eye candy it has, but damn....Eve is just so detailed.

I can't seem to pull myself away from WoW to do anything else at the moment, but I'd be interested to know if this ones good. I haven't done any space sim stuff since Freelancer and only then because it had a lot of action.

Let me know how it is :)

It's rather ......interesting. :) Today is my 1st of 14 free days. The universe is how it should be...massive!!

I think the most hilarious thing I found today was that I can put bounties on other player's heads. :)

I guess it is like WoW in the sense that you build your character skill wise and who you begin with will allow you to pursue different career paths. I picked an engineer with a scientific background. Currently, I have all sorts of shield enhancing skills that I am trying to learn. X3 level of complexity is no where near this. X3 has algorithms that dictate how the NPC buy your goods. Here, people are actually doing the buying.

If I continue, I hope to begin a weapons factory and offer details to either the military or pirates.

If you really like space based games. A while back there was a game called Jumpgate I believe a few hundred people the last time I checked are clinging on to the game. This game required a bit of skill it was not a mouse point and move game you really needed a flight stick to get anwhere in that game. The economy probably wasnt as advance as EVE but it had your basic mining astroids and doing cargo runs.

You could buy ships or upgrade as usual. What really made this game so special imo was the pvp aspect. You could flag your ship as commercial so other factions would leave you alone after all you had to pay for that cargo its bad enough a bad docking situation(you had to manually fly this thing) or NPC pirates or not paying attention and flying into a astroid could cost you lots of credits. What was cool is just because you was flagged commercial didnt mean the other players cant attack you! If you for instant attacked another ship that was flagged commercial the server would put a bounty on your head. I believe it depended on your reputation and the amount of loss you caused the unsuspecting player. Of course everyone on the server would be interested in cashing in on your terrorist actions!

Alot of times a player would hire other players to escort thier cargo run if they feel necessary. It really was a well put together system it just didnt get alot of hype.

I have heard they are making a Jumpgate 2 which could be exciting.

Jumpgate Evolution!!!

OMFG...EQ, I started to do some reading on this...and so far I am excited about it. I'm worried, though. A lot of hype went unto UT07 and it turned out to be a total flop.

I signed up for the beta testers for Jumpgate EVO, and am going to signup on the forums to ask some questions.

Yea I signed up too. Ever since the early days of EQ1 I have went though 9 other MMO's and nothing has satisfied since then. Who knows maybe this game will get me excited, its more skill based and I liked the first Jumpgate my biggest problem was I got on when the game was aging and the server population was getting small and high lvl.

Hopefully, JGE will deliver as it should. :)

Flybye I guess the older Jumpgate is still available they have a 10 day free trial. Im sure the server population is small with the majority of the player base higher levels. Im sure its not fair to judge Evolution based on a game that came out in 2001. It may pass the time and give you a little background on what JGE may b based on.

Perhaps announcement of JGE, Jumpgate 2001 server may pick up a little bit? I serously doubt it though since the game was never hyped up to begin with :P

EVE has been loads of fun. :)

I'm currently playing with a buddy from my UT2k4 days. But am constantly keeping an eye on the Jumpgate site. :)
