Hey guys,
I posted up just over a week ago saying i was having some issues with my pc. Laggy, image issues in games and just generally slow. I blip was a blog etc etc. Anyhow i uninstalled my graphic card driver and reinstalled and thought this fixed it.
Unfortuantely my pc still isnt working properly i got a new error
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexpolore.exe Invalid Access to memory location. I was talking to someone in call of duty 2 about a driver cleaner (is this good to use?) and telling them about issues i was having (i thought the old faulty driver might still be on my system somehow even though i went to control panel and uninstalled it prior to installing latest nvidia driver) So i tab outta game to check it out on net and thats when i noticed error. I tried 5-6 diff other progams and got same error except C:"the program path i was loading" invalid access....
Other issue im getting is in world in conflict i get random crashes and a message saying a display driver has stopped responding and recovered (nvmd... its called) and i have to restart pc to get game to work again. Microsoft solutions say the latest driver should resolve this but i already have it installed so im confused. Could the driver install still not be legit or is there a problem with my RAM.
I have run avg, adware and spybot in safemode and got no hits. My memory is set to system manage size (in advanced settings virtual memory) and i did a stress test on my memory about 2mths ago and they were fine? plz help me:mad:

2 things,
1: stop using IE. dont you want to be cool and use firefox?
2: set your virtual memory to 1024m - 2048m
since you tabbed out and tried to open a browser your memory may have been full because the game was still running.
i dont think its a hardware issue, just some settings need to be adjusted.

Ta for reply synthohol. I know lots of people with firefox i just havent moved to it :D
I made change to virtual memory you suggested
Strange thing is i have 2gb of memory and the memory dial in windows sidebar rarely passes 60% when playing cod2. Anyhow this is first and only time ive had this error in 6mths with pc so hopefully i wont see it again
Ive been looking into a program called driver cleaner. I definately had corrupted or faulty install of drivers for my 8800gtx and possibly my xfixtremegamer sound card. Even though i uninstalled them in control panel and reinstalled a fresh install im still getting the general laggishness and poor performance (i move slowly and really rough its not smooth...) that i had with faulty driver. Could there still exist apart of these bad drivers on my system. THe image and stuff is restored to normal and fps is still very very good.
Drivercleaner.net is supposed to work with vista from what ive read. Can i get it free anywhere or a version which will work with vista32bit which is free?

to that end i cant help, i used a detonator destroyer app once years ago and i guess it worked but i went from an nvidia card to an S3 card back then.
i would look in add/remove programs for an nvidia entry, uninstall it there and then reboot in safe mode, go to device manager and uninstall all display driver entries, sometimes in safe mode you have more than one entry for hardware.
then reboot and install the driver you want when it re-finds the card.
good luck!

Hi Druggist,
I´ve been using this little app from Guru3D. I also had an in-game performance problem while switching nvidia drivers and this app solved the problem.
This is how I do it:
1- Go to Add/remove programs and look for Nvidia Drivers, click add/remove and select just the Display drivers on the check box.
2- Reboot on safe mode and run Driver Sweeper.

Thankyou for feedback. I dl the driver sweeper program. Im just half way through reading information about it. A member of the TOG clan mentioned a error which can occur and posted details. I will try all the fixes you guys have suggested and hopefully will do the trick :P. I may also uninstall the hotfix the TOG member suggested as its not a security issue with vista (performance based) which is faulty at times.

(info on the update - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3fb80bb9-d832-425b-b42c-d3eb2071bbec&displaylang=en&Hash=esCaRGf6TTujfR7LwjWreOcpxe9doWOmA1wHV%2bjZk4p OzC2SPV9JLVIT7dTTianrztpz9%2bypldpGrCRm4Si9PA%3d%3 d)
Interesting thing is this issue started roughly when i installed this update and my HDD can be noisy at times (i thought seagate were good brands lol)

Ok i just finished. OMG i had to click uninstall display driver 4 times. It kept rolling back and not removing. Found em in safe mode and got rid of em once and for all. Ran the clean which found a few more files. Reinstalled latest driver and hopefully all fixed. Soon as i finished install windows update found a recommended update for my graphic card but it failed to install. Should i try again.

i may be foolish but i rarely ever use windows update, i dont have any problems with XP sp2 native with no updates or patches.

Yeah that update is the actual driver. I opted not to install it cause my pc must have checked for driver when i went back to windows display driver. Hopefully cause driver installation failed it didnt go on at all or im back were i started.

Its ok that i installed the display driver in safe mode right? i rebooted cause it asked and finished install in non safe mode. Also i tried to use driver sweeper for my xfi card drivers and then reinstalled in safe mode. Big issue came up my sound card wasnt recognized as being on my pc. So i uninstallled in normal mode and then let vista find a driver, then i used most recent drivers from creative site (uninstalled old ones) and seems ok. MY GOD WHAT A MESS!!! lol
