Abit finally admits to PCI problems with their VIA based motherboards. Warp2seach (http://www.warp2search.net/article.php?sid=6990&mode=thread&order=0) has the workaround posted, also a link to George Breese's PCI latency patch everyone's been using to solve the problem.

Thanks George :D

Wow...a flash from the past.

I used to be a beta tester for George back when I hung out at VIA Hardware all the time. I worked endlessly on that PCI issue last summer. But, I must admit that I thought the problem had worked itself out by now. Aside from the knwon slow down when RAID is used on a VIA based mobo (which outpaces the VIA PCI buses' ability to cope) I thought most had worked around the issue by now. Then again, I've avoided Creative soundcards for the last 18 months so it may just be my own experience talking.

I don't think it does....all VIA chipset mobos have the issue. But I do beleive the problem is more apprarent in Abit mobos as they a pushed a little closer to the edge than other boards. At least that is what I've heard.

Every since the ZT bios for the KT7A, Abit has had those three BIOS options in just about every BIOS for VIA motherboards since. I have used Delay transaction, PCI master read, and PCI master time-out settings a number of times to clear up PCI issues and they do work more often than not. So at least Abit has added the tools needed to fix the issue (most of the time anyway).
