Wow, thats awesome. he really wails on them too.. Am I correct in understanding his base drum was simply lifting the bucket edge with his foot and dropping it?

how did i miss this one?? thats very cool!!

On the subject of not needing drummers, I played a music festival over here on the last weekend of august this year.. Our gig wasnt until the last night, so I got to see a few bands/artists.. A couple that stood out were Daniel Beddingfield and Nizlopi (of JCB Song Fame ;)) - They both did acoustic sets, just with vox plus guitar and bass along with some beatboxing. It was outstanding!! Daniel Beddingfield was the first time I'd heard someone beatboxing and singing at the same time live - awesome stuff!

Then Nizlopi came on stage - only 2 of them. At one point, the bassist was playing a kind of slap bass type thing on a double bass, and beatboxing at the same time... it was one of the coolest things i've heard. I shot some video, which I might try and link to if the sound quality it any good!

by lifting the drum a deeper bass sound was produced from striking it, not dropping it, that made negligable noise.

Remember those levis commercials back in the 80s 'What do you do in your 501s?".. One of those featured a famous bucket banger who plays in times square.. He plays right by my office many evenings. That commercial actually landed him several recording projects.. Man he is amazing.. His sound actually reflects off the glass of some of the bldgs and adds the tiniest echo/delay that sounds HUGE..

Funny enough one of the other commercials featured the mighty mighty bosstones and helped them get on the map..

Wow I'm full of useless pop culture trivia arent I?
